Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 06, 2008 5:14 pm hey just wondering what color have you chosen for your roof tiles?
Ive noticed that people seem to go for black roof tiles these days. We have chosen dark chocolate roof tiles and its funny coz we are the only ones in our street that have gone for a different color .. everyone else has chosen black.. not that im worrid i suppose.. Even our brick colour will be different. everyone else seems to have gone for the browny colours. Our house will sure be a different look http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee29/clath_photos/100_0726.jpghttp://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee29/clath_photos/100_0704.jpg Some nice tiler came along during the chrissy break and finished off our tiles Re: what color have you chosen for your roof tiles? 2Jan 06, 2008 5:50 pm Developer's requirement........ mid to dark grey roof tiles.
So we had no choice but to choose dark grey. Also, it has to be unglazed and slim-line profile. so instead of choosing glazed terracotta tiles (in brown, that we really like), we went for a flat colour-through concrete roof tiles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: what color have you chosen for your roof tiles? 6Jan 06, 2008 8:32 pm Well we’re back to the trend here, and you can tell which way it has gone.

Especially if all the bricks are pretty similar too.
VJ - how come the developer only lets you have tiles in grey and nothing else?? Round here most roofs of new houses are colourbond, although some are tiles, and there is a good variety of colour, our own will be a dark red (Manor red) with dark cream bricks (Harvest Gold) Re: what color have you chosen for your roof tiles? 9Jan 07, 2008 8:05 pm Quote: VJ - how come the developer only lets you have tiles in grey and nothing else?? Helyn, As per design requirements, only mid to dark grey roof tiles if you would go for concrete. If Colorbond though, there are lots of colours to choose from (there's a list though.. hehe) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: what color have you chosen for your roof tiles? 10Jan 07, 2008 8:36 pm But why??
I mean, if it is Ok to have different colours in colourbond roofs (even if they have to be from their approved list) why does it matter if tiles are different colours. In fact, you would think they would encourage diversity?? Re: what color have you chosen for your roof tiles? 12Jan 08, 2008 8:54 am We chose the Monier Barramundi tiles for our place. When I first saw them on the roof I thought they'd put the wrong tiles on as they looked lighter, but they were correct and they look great now they're finished.

I was worried when I saw your first photo, but then your second photo clarifies that it is quite dark in colour......phewwwww i thought we've made a wrong choice. The houses in our street vary with brick colour and tiles. It is a developers requirement that your colours vary from the neighbouring houses.
I guess some developers like diversity, some like conformity. Ant.
