Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 41Jun 06, 2011 10:12 pm We are really happy with the beaver colour, it was originally made up as a sample for the vanities (not sure what I was thinking) but when it came out I thought it was perfect for the kitchen instead. Ebony Macassar was DH's idea, we saw something similar in a display which he really liked, I wasn't sold on the idea originally but now I'm glad we went with it. We are having the normal finish on the benches but they only had samples with the velvet finish for us to take home. Can't believe we have the same bench throughout when there are so many choices! but it was the only one we really liked as we didn't want anything stark white or with big flecks. Ah well Horizontal looks so good, I was originally thinking vertical but the lady at Beaumonts showed me some displays & I changed my mind. Cant wait to see everything put together. Its hard to imagine the big picture with the little samples. (haha beaver) Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 43Jun 07, 2011 7:54 pm Cheers Ness'n'troy! It is hard to imagine the final product when you're looking at a tiny square of laminate isn't it. We had the option of either doing selections "in-house" with the builder or going to each of their suppliers individually. In the end we went to each supplier as they specialise in their own product & have bigger samples to look at. We did take all the samples back to the builder as the lady there is very good with her interior design & was full of advice. Although I don't tend to 2nd guess my choices it's hard when you see all the great looking houses on here! Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 48Jun 12, 2011 8:36 pm Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 49Jun 12, 2011 9:34 pm Sorry Drayto, it was a very fleeting appearance! Wildorchid, so happy you posted this pic! That was the display we saw & based the island selection on, from memory that was a vinyl wrap? the grain looks different to the Ebony Macassar, same colours though. Very similar to ours though, I'm glad we decided to eliminate the glass overheads though, I was worried the glass in the cupboard would clash against our creamy white glass splashback & it looks like it does in this pic. We have received our 3d kitchen layout, will post when I work out how to convert a jpg file! Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 51Jun 12, 2011 11:08 pm Sorry Rebecca, not sure of the colour, not even 100% sure it's vinyl wrap! it sure felt like it was though & looking at the pic there doesn't appear to be any joins. If you wanted to check it out yourself this kitchen is in one of the Dechellis displays at Playford Alive. We liked the look of it but went Ebony Macassar diamond gloss laminate as it looks similar but is a lot harder wearing which is what we wanted. We chose parchment in 2pac for our cabinetry and I thought it looked a bit like that! Rebecca Custom Build with Kersbrook Constructions - SA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37762 Current Status: Handover on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 53Jun 13, 2011 12:13 pm i just took a photo of my 3d drawing and that showed up ok, if you cant figure the other way. i was pretty sure that kitchen was 2 pac and the island diamond/crystal gloss, i was also pretty sure it was the ebony macassar??? (the grain always looks different in a big piece from the sample) and the splashback is actually essa stone, same colour as the bench, crystal chalk i think. the colour is very similar to our buff tone, but it had the tinyest tinge of grey in it, i cant remember what the joinery guy called it, but they seem to only do their own mix of colours for 2 pac for dechellis, not laminate colours. Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 54Jun 13, 2011 4:54 pm Wildorchid, it could have been Ebony Macassar, I thought it was vinyl wrap as if felt really soft to me but I could be wrong, it's happened before I knew the rest was 2pac, I wasn't keen on the colour though, I remember thinking it looked kind of mint green! Didn't realise the splashback was stone but I don't think I looked at it too hard. My worry with the glass in the cupboards was that the ones I have seen have had the high-iron glass which have the green tinge & it would look odd against the white low-iron glass splashback. Love the island in this pic, glad we went with it! Bit different now though, we no longer have handles to the overheads & all the other handles are horizontal & centered. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm now a bit worried about the oven being in the corner, it might be a bit "pokey" but I really wanted a tower oven & there was no where else to put it! the 2 doors on the corner next to the oven are our laundry doors & they open inward so at least the won't open against it. Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 57Jun 14, 2011 1:10 pm lots of cupboards - great! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our custom design on 2 acres in SA 58Jun 14, 2011 8:10 pm Yes, I didn't realise how big it was until I saw the drawings Can't wait to cook in the new kitchen (novelty will wear off quickly) our kitchen bench in the "shoebox" is less than 1m & yesterday I "baked" a cake in the microwave as the oven is stuffed! Here is the front of the island Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Wildorchid, I was wondering about the oven door clearance too, might mention it to the builder, I'm sure the cabinet makers will make sure it works but wouldn't hurt to point it out.
