Browse Forums Building A New House Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 8Apr 16, 2011 10:46 pm What about a sliding door from the bedroom to the ensuite, and stretching the shower out to fill the space to the right of the current shower door - to effectively create a double shower? Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 9Apr 17, 2011 11:30 am Not sure about the laundry - it's a long walk from the bedrooms through the kitchen, wip to get to laundry. Maybe put s door from hallway to laundry . (I'm on my phone so it's not the clearest so there may be one there already) Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 10Apr 17, 2011 11:35 am thanks dilla that plan doesnt show but we have extended the shower. the base will be tiled to the wall with no door (no glass to clean yay) so youre sort of around the corner. hope that makes sense! Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 11Apr 17, 2011 11:37 am acrebuild1 - I have thought about a door at the end of the hallway Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 12Apr 17, 2011 11:53 am I agree about the laundry comments - seems a simple solution to me would be to cut the WIP down a little bit and have laundry access from end of hallway - although this makes WIP a tad smaller, it frees up back wall of same for shelves rather than door to laundry so not really much lost space. And laundry becomes a bit bigger so that may compensate anyway. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My lines are crooked but you get what I mean? Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 14Apr 17, 2011 1:07 pm just a thought... but I would leave the toilet where it was originally. Being opposite bed 3 it is tucked out of the way, if you move it to the end of the hall then as soon as you walk into that hall towards any of the bedrooms, you see straight down into the toilet. Might be a nicer view to see into the bathroom instead of the toilet. Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 15Apr 17, 2011 1:32 pm Nice plans I agree with separating WIP from the Laundry, it just does not seem to flow well to have to walk through kitchen then the WIP then the laundry. I like the idea of eating a bit of space of the Meals area to allow for the separate passageway. Another thought, I would prefer that my guests or my mum (when she visits) not needing to walk past all my kids bedrooms before getting to the main bathroom, seem a long way to walk. Maybe spec out an extra small size bathroom closer to the common area or the new laundry? Separating entertaining area and bedrooms I feel is important Oh just realized you are going to your colour appointment tomorrow, hope it goes well and you can change the plan until you are absolutely happy with it Good luck cheers jim Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 16Apr 17, 2011 1:44 pm IMO, the kitchen needs to be a bit bigger, there's not enough bench space for preparing food etc, the kitchen looks a bit small for a big house .... Assume you have a family? Agree with comment to open the laundry to the corridor, not the pantry, that would improve the area 100fold. Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 18Apr 17, 2011 4:15 pm thanks everyone for your advice I will work on changing the laundry area. I do feel much better about the layout now. thanks again. Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 19Apr 17, 2011 5:24 pm I had a fiddle, hope you don't mind. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I moved the kitchen up into the meals area, flipped the linen cupboards so that the entrance to the bedrooms was nearer the bathroom/toilet, flipped the entrance to bed 2 so you didn't see straight in from the living areas and added a door and linen storage to the laundry. If wanted the door from the walk in pantry could be left to have access from the kitchen. * edited to add what I changed on the plan. Re: help!! I need feedback on my house plan 20Apr 17, 2011 6:22 pm Could you swap the laundry and bedroom around so both have doors into the hallway? If you switch it like the poster above me then you are bringing the family room closer to the kitchen & people have to walk around the back or through the front of your tv area to get to the hallway? Agree with moving the cupboards to the front of the office. 6 55355 Hi there! Absolutely agree on the wasted space.
