Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 16, 2011 9:03 pm Hi Guys, I'm just comparing notes here, but I am wondering if did you ever made variations or changes to your plans after you signed what they call as Pre-lim Contracts (not the Building Contract)? If so, did you have to pay a fee when you made changes? I got confused for I was reading our Home Kit, and it states that no variations after Pre-start and if so and unavoidable, then a fee is charged. I made changes after signing the Pre-lim Contract but before Building Contract and Pre-Start but I got fined. Hope to hear from your end. None of these I received charged a fee, my builder was happy to do the variation without charging a fee as it did not require redrawing of the plans or anything drastic. Hope this is what you are looking for good luck cheers jim The worst thing you can do is sign a building contract without a pre contract review.
