Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 15, 2011 8:03 pm Hi guys... Hoping there may be some tradies out there who may be able to shed some light... Is "floating" an area acceptable and/or preferrable? We have had our home plastered, stopped and there are now areas that need to be rectified. Some areas are not plumb and have bows. A couple of areas - in particular a square arched "doorway" are "twisted" for want of a better description. At the foot of the arch it is visibly twisted - after the rain we had the frame has obviously twisted and once the plaster was put up this has resulted in a crooked area. We thought this would be ripped off, levelled and replastered, but it seems the plasterer may have "floated" the area instead. Is this common practice? Would this be as tolerant to wear and tear or should we request that they re-plaster instead? Many thanks in advance if anyone can shed some light. Thanks for the suggestion.
