Glad we have fences in now! Now: Building another new home Settlement: 8 July 2021 Construction due to start: In two months Re: Neighbours and Fencing 12Jul 30, 2011 10:21 am That's great news, we got ours up without a problem, we just paid for ours and our fence guy got the money of the neighbours for their share. They all signed the paperwork and sent it back to us, we just passed it on the our fence guy. All fenced in and loving it. Re: Neighbours and Fencing 13Jul 30, 2011 4:34 pm Me and hubby want to put our fences up before we apply for our building loan as we want to minimise costs later on as doing flooring and driveway and lighting with our own choice of company. As our streets land has all been registered the last month no one has started to build yet. We would like to put the fencing up to minimise cost later and also people dumping there crap on our block as we wont be building till least 8 months to a year. We do not mind paying it all ourselves as least we will have the fencing we want however does anyone know if this is ok? we are building in NSW Deposit on land 08/01/2011 Contract signed 20/02/2011 Settlement - 07/07/2011 Re: Neighbours and Fencing 14Jul 30, 2011 10:38 pm karmaz I could go ahead an put up a fence and claim the funds from whoever he sold the lot to in 6 to 7 years. Our agent apparently took calls from one of our neighbours when we bought our block (fence had been put up long before we bought and they had ample time to approach the previous land owner for the fence cost), seemed to think it was in relation the the fence cost... Re: Neighbours and Fencing 15Jul 31, 2011 12:24 am b0son - I dont think so. I'm guessing the owners of the blocks at the time the fence is constructed are liable for the costs. If you are lucky enough to put yours up without hassle, then thank your lucky stars. people have came to blows over fences, some have even ended up in hospital with gunshot wounds ! It gets that heated. I know, my brother inlaw is a cop and I get all sorts of stories. Neighbours and Fencing 17Jul 31, 2011 8:30 am ref_kt Ohhh and BTW - good luck +1 .. hopefully you have some smooth sailing soon! I'm guessing the owners of the blocks at the time the fence is constructed are liable for the costs. that should be the case, otherwise you hear stories about nasty neighbours trying to double-dip. i.e. asking for fence payments whenever the property's changed hands... Have you tried to go ahead with your chosen company and have the company chased up the payments? lucky me and my neighbour both had the same company in mind. hope it went well for you! it depends on the natural ground level, if they excavated their boundary wall needed to be built as a retaining wall.
