Browse Forums Building A New House Re: retaining wall 2Apr 13, 2011 5:13 pm Dave0363 what would charge to do a sleeper retaining wall out treated pine about 18 metre long 3 sleepers high pretty cheap. I got 19 meter wall 1.5 meters high, steel & concrete slab construction for $8400. I would guestimate in the order of $500 - $1000 for labour + cost of supplies. If its easy access (ie can get wheel-barrow through for sleepers) then it will be the lower end of the scale. If heavy lifting is involved, then its a different story. Why are priates scary ? Because they yaargh.. Re: retaining wall 3Apr 13, 2011 6:02 pm Sorry to hijack you topic Dave. Can't help you as I know nothing about it, but also have a rough quote for mine. 3 walls, approx 4.5 m long x 500mm high, 7 m long by 600mm high and 6m long by 500mm high. These would be done in Tasman blocks with concrete footing and drainage behind. Approx price $3300. What do you think? taki Building Havana Elite with side HT with MJD 20/04/11 DA approved by council 06/06/11 cut/fill 08/06/11 piering 20/6/11 slab 11/8/11 frame complete 18/9/11 lock up 28/11/11 handover booked Re: retaining wall 4Apr 13, 2011 6:29 pm Hi Taki... I just had 2 walls done in Tasman blocks, with footings and drainage connected to stormwater as follows - Wall #1 - 24m long, 3 courses high, plus capping $5,990 Wall #2 - 18m long, 4 courses high, plus capping $5,980 Hope this helps! PS they look fantastic!!!!! Helena Re: retaining wall 5Apr 13, 2011 6:33 pm Hi Helena, The price sounds about right then, however there was no mention of connecting to storm water but will see about that. Were yours concrete filled, because that was the suggestion. I think I would prefer the bluestone or pebbly type fill. Re: retaining wall 8Sep 17, 2015 10:18 pm I am thinking of using concrete sleepers for a retaining wall but I am concerned about lifting the 80kgs two metres off the ground and lowering them into place. Love to hear about a safe way to do this. The wall is a part of a boundary fence so access is not great. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5603 Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16312 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria.
