Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 21Jun 07, 2011 11:06 pm Hi everyone the Block is slowly coming along they were laying the underground power today and the footpaths are pritty much done the curb and channel is done its still about the highest block but still has the over land flood path thing happnin the trees are still standing and when they come down it will be a bit there a great tree and the birds love them , im not a fan of them coming down but they would be dangerous if built around and its in the sub division planing for them to be removed , We are just going to have to have a native garden to encourage them to stay around but we would do that anyway Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 22Jun 09, 2011 7:47 pm Looks great! Love the enlarged family meals area. If I were to give you one tip from mine... I added an extra 600mm to my kitchen bench...... it might be the tiniest bit too long but an extra 400mm would be fantastic and apart from the extra bench space it gives you another cupboard too But of course that's my thing, you have probably got different priorities. Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 23Jun 10, 2011 12:01 am thanks sashla we are looking at the plans right now and thinking its a good idea too to add to the bench and who cant say no to another cupboard . Thinking we are going to delete the window in the family meals area , the one thats high in the wall cause we will have 2 sliding doors one at the back and one opposite the kitchen as well as a window facing out to where the garage would normally be so will be heaps of light any way, and we get more bricks and paint lol Ben Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 24Jun 27, 2011 6:00 pm The trees are down and the wood is piled up to dry down the back, not long for the title now Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 25Jun 29, 2011 7:34 pm We had the colour selections today , got through it and both agreed to pritty much everything we let our little one pick the carpets lol Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 26Jun 30, 2011 9:25 pm Hey ben and melissa i bet your getting excited on the upcoming start of ur house. Off whites always look great with timber floors. I was wondering if your contract is for a 2 coat or 3 coat paint system? Re: Our Columbia 211 Dennis Family Home 30May 19, 2013 10:53 pm Well its been a long time and how things change dramatically firstly we didnt go ahead with the new house couple different factors from costing and factoring in the future thought we should buy second hand, renovate and have a steeping stone , all the wood from the block had to be removed by us so we have still lots of fire wood perhaps 20 cubic meters all cut dryed and split. It was a shame to do so much planning and not see a result lost out a little money wise from deposits but as an over view we gain that in fire wood ya win ya lose . We are happy with out decision in the end and as a learning steeping stone we gain knowledge. We bought a 3 bedroom pretty open plan house from the 70s close to a PUB and I have a shed , planning to renovate , build another room for the laundry, move existing laundry, move existing bathroom into laundry and make the old bathroom an ensuite , other end of the house will receive a added room for a walk in wardrobe and a walk in pantry, our rear (sun) room will receive an elevated roof to gain more sunlight into the house and the floor raised to the existing house main flooring ( 100 mm ) Plans ohhh Plans hopfully these dont deviate too much Dennis Family Homes Columbia 211 Deposit paid- 21/03/11 Hi everyone, Newbie renovator here, after some advice for combining our family room in the picture and the alfresco and make a larger family room.
