For example the southern facing wall of my new place will have 3 as it is nearly 20 mt long. They will fill it eventually with a putty/silicone type stuff that will blend in with the colour of your bricks. Here is one of mine on the front facade (during construction) with the coloured putty...don't even notice it now the house is finished.
