Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 09, 2011 9:43 pm Or are we? We got a block of land in the Stage 2 release of Belmore Estate. Anyhoo to cut a long story short, we picked the Cardinal design from Eagle homes as it's a good value for money design and suits us quite well. So I got the quotation back yesterday, and whoa. I know people say to budget extra for the extras, but holy moly, we seem to have gotten just about every extra under the sun. Firstly since we paid our initial $1,500 deposit the base price has gone up about $3k, plus they are only giving us half price standard site costs instead of the "free" standard site costs promotion. We didn't meet the full criteria for that deal (signing building contract within 3 months) anyway. So thats another $7.5k Scaffold hire is $2.6k (eh? for what exactly? whats the guard rail included in standard costs for?) Here's a good one - provision of 11000L aboveground rainwater tank - $8.4k. The estate covenants require a minimum 10000L tank. $8.4k??????? what? is it made of platinum? "allowance" for fill is $3k. How do you read contour plans? I'm trying to work out the fall in the block as the standard costs include "site preparation up to 1m" I'm going to try push them a little for some things, especially the site costs thingy and that water tank is just plain ridiculous. I can probably get it done elsewhere for half that. Got lots of things to do next week, one thing for sure, they ain't getting their quoted price!
