Browse Forums Building A New House Re: GJ Gardner - Bunbury 26Dec 19, 2011 9:46 am drpitto Congratulations Sir Snagger, hope you enjoy. Gardner's were okay a few problems though 1. Garage door didn't fit and a new one took 5 weeks, it's in now and looks okay but it was a long time. 2. Nasty vibrations from the roof with a particular wind direction - no fix yet. 3. Plumbing was poor. I had to tighten up 5 out of 8 drain pipes which were loose, dishwasher drain plug not drilled out, taps not tightened properly. 4. The house clean up was virtually non existent - dust everywhere from the plaster, bathrooms and wardrobes were the worst. 5. The power point in the garage from out of the ceiling when the garage door installer put the cord in. 6. 2 of the window handles don't open those windows, too much play to disengage the lock. 7. Laundry cupboard shelf not fitted as paid for. 8. Bricks to garage not cleaned properly (at least I got follow-up on this one). 9. Knob for the front door lock fell off. 10.The dishwasher access into the kitchen cupboard was in place but whoever did it put the holes directly over a bottom support strut hence the hoses wouldn't fit. Had a hell of a time moving the strut and drilling out bigger holes in the confined space. If you had of asked me then I would have told you to avoid Gardner's like the plague but I've had time to get over it now. Minor problems really but still waiting for even an attempted fix. Ducted airconditioning from Ford and Doonan was well done and bamboo floors by Choices was also great. Having the front (600 sqm) landscaped by Myada, having started yet what should be aabout $8,000 to restore native bush setting. Will let anyone interested know how that goes. Would I build with GJ Gardner again, hard to tell but we didn't have too many problems. Some of the finer details let them down. Sounds like most of those issues should have been sorted by the builder in the cooling off period or under warranty (e.g. the roof!). My SS was required to specifically tell me at PCI that I should get a licensed plumber to install the dishwasher ... because all they do is drill a hole in the side of the cabinet and drill out the waste water hole ***insert sly wink here*** One of my best mates is Jono at Myada. He's very good at what he does with that bobcat Nice company selection May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 9566 |
