Feeling very lucky, and hopeful that Friday's inspection will go without drama. It was busy out there this morning, with last minute things like adjusting windows and doors, silicone, painting front door and so on, but looking great. Good Luck Matt, make sure you everything Just think, if all goes well, you will be in next week. you will be fine, Bentley do a good house. Our neighbor is building with Simmonds, they started building ages before we did, there roof was on when our block got cut, he came to visit last night, he still isn't in and we have been in for a month. Re: Matt's Brando - Carpets 135Jul 15, 2011 5:11 pm Mostly good. We spent 3 hours carefully looking it over and found very few issues. Darren has delivered a lovely house 5 months ahead of contract and I count myself very, very fortunate. More than that he and Bentley have spent a lot of time and effort to make sure I was comfortable with everything every step of the way. They have been great and if I had to do it all over again I would go with the same builder without a moments hesitation. Darren has done his best to complete the build before I went away to Japan for work, as requested, and I really appreciate it. I was a bit disappointed to arrive today to find the driveway had not been poured, but that's down to the tight time lines I requested and the rain this week. Hopefully it can be done soon, I'd like to see it before I fly out. The lack of driveway was the only major issue. There was one other item at inspection involving a hand basin that wasn't level and, though I couldn't find a leak, noticed that water had collected under it. Apart from that all issues were minor and cosmetic. The usual paint touch ups and a few minor cosmetic cracks and chips (actually very few). An eventful few weeks but we are in! I took the keys on Tuesday, appliances went in Wednesday, the heating was commissioned on Thursday and we started heading back and forth with a truck on Friday (all while trying to catch up on my teaching load after spending a week and a half at a conference in Japan. The house is great and we're slowly starting to fill it with our stuff. I'm absolutely exhausted, completely beat No issues with the house at all though (well, yet). One problem I didn't expect though, is that Telstra called me on Wednesday to let me know that the phone and internet connection booked for Saturday wouldn't happen because they didn't have any wire in the the ground on my street. I just about hit the roof! Sure it's a new release and we're the first house finished on the street, but it's a new release of a fairly established suburb and all the streets around me have internet (I can see their wireless networks on my laptop), and it titled in October last year for goodness sake! How long does it take to pop a bit of copper in a hole!? So in the mean time I'm paying through the nose for mobile broadband while they get their act together (Mid September, apparently). Oh well rant over. Apart from that minor issue we're loving it! No photos though, it's all boxes and full of mud tracked through during the move and I'm far too exhausted to break out the mop right now Matt's Brando: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46340 Started March 30th 2011 PCI July 15th |
