Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 08, 2011 4:45 pm Hi, I am looking to build a new house, am aware it is similiar to asking how long is a piece of string but does anyone have an idea houw much it would cost to build a good to superior quality 40sqm single story house (no excavation etc required)? Re: cost of home construction 5Apr 08, 2011 6:40 pm The price i mentioned was for a project builder for the basic build. See this link (for a smaller house but just multiply up) http://www.anewhouse.com.au/?p=66. If you are going the architect route I would add 20% for fees and the fact that the project builders economy of scale will be missing. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: cost of home construction 6Apr 11, 2011 7:34 am IF you are talking about a high quality, architect designed home, the starting cost would be around $2200/m2. Architect fees, for a full service will be about 5-10% of construction cost. Having said that, $8000/m2 is not unusual for luxury homes.
