Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2011 1:16 am Not really fast, we paid our $1000 deposit late last year, will have to pull out the deposit receipt tomorrow to pinpoint exact date. But it is sure nice now planning permits and building permits are behind us!!! We got this nice man to slash the block yesterday and he put us ahead of others since we ate building next week. Nice guy!!! I went to bendigo Beaumont tiles today and picked a tile I like and they gave me a sample to take with me to colorworld only o have to return the tile when done. Its charcoal with darker grey lines kinda through it. We are having a big open tiled area with the kitchen in open space living area and thinking a black and white kitchen. So the tile assistant suggested the tile shouldn't simply blend into the walls but be a feature so we went for the charcoal one. Will try to take a pic tomorrow to show anyone interested. Does national builders use this same tile for walls too? Or as standard do we get to pick a wall tile too? Re: Tile hopefully chosen. 3Apr 08, 2011 11:50 pm Hi, Glad you picked a floor tile that you liked. I also ended up going for a Charcoal coloured tile with darker lines through it. You can kind of see the lines in this picture http://i941.photobucket.com/albums/ad255/mish3023/Kitchen.jpg You are able to select another tile for the walls and can have different wall tiles with the bathroom and ensuite. They also include some feature tiling as well if you want to have a feature strip in the shower, around the bath etc. You can elect to use the same tile on the walls as well if that is your preference. With my colour selections I decided in the main bathroom, to have the floor tiles on the side of the spa bath, and to be used for tiling around the bath. On the walls above the bath I elected to go for while wall tiles. Good luck with the rest of your selections. What grout will you choose? My that's funny. I saw it laid on display in random pattern so one this way one the other and will go that way too. I think grey to dark grey grout but not white. Hubbub finally came to see the bricks I liked and we chose one we didn't consider before, the boral beaumonde. We think cottage green colorbond roof but not sure about gutters and gutters, probably the same for gutters and cream or paperbark wood eaves and garage door maybe cream or paperbark. Not sure yet. Monday is colorworld and hubby doesn't want to come so I'm taking my daughter she's thrilled! She is 19. Re: Tile hopefully chosen. 5Apr 09, 2011 9:55 pm No Woodland grey roof would look better I feel with beaumonde boral brick. Its hard when you keep changing your mind hey. I think Im in a mad panic with leaving tomorrow to the motel then colorworld monday. Re: Tile hopefully chosen. 7Apr 10, 2011 1:09 pm Hi, Dee built with Boral Beaumonde bricks with Surfmist roof that looks fantastic. You can see some pictures on her thread http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32612&hilit=NBG+Homestead+23&start=2500 The floor tile I selected was Technico Charcoal and I selected Charred Ash as the grout (it has number 287 beside it). Good luck at colourworld and don't forget to take the camera. It was fantastic. I am also using the floor tile for the bath the same way you describe as Maral advised it. I am having the white gloss rectangle tile with a feature tile that I will download pics of soon. Roof is woodland grey with shale grey for the fascia and downpipes. Will try to download pics later. Re: Tile hopefully chosen. 9Apr 12, 2011 12:56 pm Hi, Glad the colour selections went well. It is fun going through and selecting everything. Look forward to seeing the photos of your selections when you get a chance to post them. Where are you actually building? We are in Echuca. We have pipes in the ground for the bath and other plumbing for the house in the ground but not the slab or footings etc they didnt even scrape the site as our block is that level. I guess they would have done it before the pipes went in if they were going to scrape the site at all. Will look for the photos, I have some of the land on my phone, will go see. Pity they are wasting this good weather though. Re: Tile hopefully chosen. 12May 03, 2011 7:05 pm Hi there, We are also building with NBG. With colourworld done, you should be just about finished dealing with NBG now. Am looking forward to seeing your pics now you have found your camera! We have some similar colours to yours if you are still thinking of black amd white kitchen. We used white tiling for all floors but having a charcoal feature wall in bathroom / ensuite. Also having shale grey piers out front so some similar colours amongst them. I can see now we are having same splashback as Michelle (buildingwest). Looking forward to seeing your pics and would love to see all your colour selections. Mike Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
