Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 03, 2011 11:37 pm Hello Its been 265 days since building commenced and we have 5 days left till the contract is finished. We received an email on Tuesday 29/3 the job has gone to handover department. What confuses us is that not only are there stickers all over the house inside and out ( you can play dot to dot) but also all the external doors are not completed in staining. The stacker doors have acid stains on all the corners & the render has stains which was done by the acid cleaner man. There are also other issues. What happens once the house goes to Handover department? Do they fix all the issues before the home presentation? Doesn't all works get completed with the site supervisor before going to handover ? How long does it normally take? Please help! Be safe Rainbow4 Re: Job not complete 2Apr 04, 2011 7:02 am A lot of things you are asking about depend on the builder. For instance a lot of builders don't have handover departments. Typically it takes one to two weeks from Pre Completion Inspection to handing over the keys. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Job not complete 3Apr 04, 2011 9:18 am Just part of the process. Even though they have sent details internally for handover, they look at what still needs to be done and then give a date based on how long it might take. FWIW, even with 5 days left on your contract it doesn't mean anything. If its not done they'll just keep going for as long as it takes. You can hassle them as much as you like but it probably won't make them go any faster. I just said to my builder. I'd like it done by the date set, but if it takes longer thats fine, but I'll be claiming every cent back I can on the late finish. I told them I'm happy to go to minutes If I have to. Re: Job not complete 4Apr 04, 2011 11:39 pm Thank you both for your feed back it was much appreciated. Chrisandkate i love the idea that you told the builder you'll like it done by the date set, but if it takes longer thats fine, but you'll be claiming every cent back you can on the late finish. Maybe that's an idea for us? We saw the Site supervisor today, the house wont be handed over by 9/4 . Very disappointing. All the stickers i previously mentioned were from the handover department of things they didn't approve and need fixing. Every wall ,floor ,door has a red sticker. The painter didn't do the works properly so things need to be re done. Not only that needs to be done due to the rain last night all our down pipes are leaking and the corners are leaking too. Its so frustrating. This fixing list is never ending. ..The more i think about it ChrisandKates idea sounds like a plan Are all builders the same? I have to wonder. How long does it normally take for a 28 square single storey home to be built? Be safe Rainbow4 Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design. For timber flooring, for most parts it's fine because it's got base plates, and for door jabs you can… 7 2226 |
