That's fantastic guys! Congrats!
We had news that our slab is being delayed coz our land is temporarily too flooded to do anything. Rain water is collecting from the vacant block next to us which is on a slant. Will keep u updated.

Fantastic progress on your block Chatz and Mrs Chatz! It looked fabulous each time I drove past this week!!! I hope it's all going to plan for you!

We hope your drainage problem has been fixed and they have been able to start. If not, you might want to look away...
The progress in one week has been amazing with the slab, the frame, the roof trusses and now the windows and external doors have arrived. OMG.
We are finally able to walk around the rooms and picture how big everything is. The front porch, living, dining and lounge feel huge while the master bedroom is the one room that feels smaller than we expected. The back yard is also smaller than we thought, the extra metre we added to the house appears to have taken more backyard than we expected. But that's OK, we can now deck from the alfresco to the pool without a huge expanse of decking.
We will post some photos on the weekend once we see it in daylight.

Chatz has really not let on just how damn thrilled we all are! It's such a relief to see it all start to come together. There were times I thought we would be houseless forever.

I've just updated the blog with lots of pictures of the slab, frame and even a steam train that was on the Glen Waverley line today!
Did I mention how happy we are?

There is so much progress in just a short time! you guys must be so excited!
We received a letter from henley the other day saying or slab has been delayed by 14 days due to bad weather. this knocks us 4 days over the contract period. not too happy, but i figure that this is something i have no control over so i just have to go with it.
we did go past the block on friday and saw that heaps of our bricks were delivered. they have also done the retaining walls and drains have been put in i think.
looks like the slab isnt too far away.

With the weather we have had this week I hope they were at last able to make a start on your slab.
At our house the gutters are going on today and we expect they will start on the roof next week.
We have now received the invoice for the frame. It surprises me that the frame is such a large proportion of the cost given how quickly it goes up, but that is the payment schedule we (and I assume everyone else) has.

no slab yet but they called and said it would be on next week. This week they did a lot of plumbing work so that was good. I also saw the soil flattened in areas for alfresco, garage and portico. The portico is absolutely massive.... Its like half the size of the bedroom we are currently in!
I'm a bit concerned that there is no back yard! I am hoping that once the frame goes up and the pallets of bricks have disappeared from the back of the lot, the backyard will be more evident. Here's to hoping, coz its too late to do anything about it now.
Chatz your house is coming along so nicely! I cant wait until ours gets moving.

Despite the rain....we have tiles!
Too dark to see the colour, but the ironstone gutters are looking very blue.

As predicted by the site supervisor, the bricks were delivered today and they should start laying them tomorrow.

Hey guys. Great to hear your projects r moving along well. Chatz your talise is looking amazing.
Hubby called HH and shared with them our frustrations. Our administrator left HH without telling us and nobody picked up our case... We basically had to call them and ask what was going on. They have now agreed to contact us once a week. The end of our contract is feb 25th so all I can say is, we better have a house by then!
Drove past the block today. There are white stump kind of things poking out of the ground but of course we have no idea what they r coz our SS doesn't communicate with us. Still no slab.... A bit over it really.

I don't know about everyone else, but we found selecting colours to be very stressful and we have been hoping ever since that we made good choices.
We went against the recommendation of the colour consultant with the roof tiles, guttering, bricks and window frame combinations. She was pushing us to use Monument (grey) rather than Ironstone (blue/grey), but we insisted. So the moment of truth arrives and I have to say we are very happy!
The brick layer is doing a great job, he said he would be going faster if it wasn't for all the mud. In fact he might have to stop soon if he can't get another delivery of bricks soon. He will talk to the site supervisor to see what can be done.

looking good! personally, i think the gutters look great. I think when you are in the colour appointment everything is overwhelming and sometimes its easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. I did exactly what you did ... ignored what the consultant said and went with my gut instinct. YOur exterior colours look awesome
so do you plan on putting plantation shutters in those 3 master bedroom windows? We are thinking about putting in white ones.

Yes, given the rest of the colours are quite dark, white plantation shutters should look really good.

Great choices by the way, the bricks will have wee charcoal and blueish colouring, its going to look ( and all ready does ) look great..
Is there any render at the front?
Its amazing how your build looks so like ours, i cant get over that... and as we started first your the copy CHATZ... ha ha If you pardon the pun... i crack myself up sometimes
By the way, there is a store in Braeside that makes plantation shutter Kits !!!, they are pretty well priced, only thing is you have to paint or stain yourself and assemble.
Were doing the same at the front of our house, we have those long full length skinny windows at each side so should look pretty good in those and we think if your doing one at the front, you have too do them all.
Well our brickies have'nt returned yet, and the inside is all plastered..
