Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 163Sep 16, 2011 9:12 pm Hello Chatz & Trudy Good too see both your homes are progressing nicely its a very exiting time for us all and by all accounts a very smooth and relatively trouble free Journey !!! ( fingers crossed }an update from us as of today 16/09. Had our house totally cleaned this week eg goop removed and all internal cleaned and prepared for flooring. The portaloo has been removed !!! render complete, Sewers reconnected , down pipes connected to storm etc. All internals are complete now and flooring booked in for next week. Our render has been done and thats another box ticked , we are very happy with the finished look. also had the Solar system fitted. Still to have the garage plaster work finished and painted, also the alfresco and rear porch needs finishing and paint.. Nearly there for us, pretty sure we'll be talking about handover very soon i'll get some outside pics on the blog. Chatz, can you still access our blog site? Ger Ger Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 164Sep 16, 2011 10:13 pm Ger1322, Your blog is here right? Strange the different order things are being done; our solar was installed when the tiles were put on, and our garage plaster was done with the rest of the plaster work. As long as we get there in the end! We now have a garage door, hopefully we can get a picture in daylight tomorrow to share. Chatz Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 166Sep 18, 2011 1:54 pm We drove past again today (Sunday) to find the heating and cooling tradesman onsite, he was meant to work yesterday but had a big night Friday night. Honestly I don't know how he could have worked yesterday anyway with the electricians all over the ceilings at the same time. Chatz Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 167Sep 22, 2011 11:54 pm MrsChatz is meeting with a landscaper tomorrow to get ideas and see what might be possible with the budget we have left. We took this picture today with the garage door down (and some pink batts on the roof, where else would they be!). The plumbing fitout is also progressing, we have basins and taps, so I should have lots of new pictures then. Chatz Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 168Sep 26, 2011 10:46 pm What a surprise to arrive at the house to meet the site supervisor and find the site has been cleaned, the fence and portaloo removed. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ At last from across the street we can see the house without the fence, rubbish bin and loo in the way. Of course the painter decided to turn up at that moment! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We selected the square basins but with sloping sides... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That's the toilet roll holder on the right near the door. In fact very near the door, something we might bring up at handover. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bathroom is also nearly done. I now think we should have extended the tiles from bath around to the shower, but otherwise we are very happy with it. Henley still need to seal the tiles and basins, but its almost done. In the master bedroom they have installed two normal lights instead of downlights for reading lights over the bed. The dimmer switches do not work well with CFC globes, but I think having consistent lights in the room make sense. So Henley will install globes that can be dimmed and we will see what they are like before insisting on replacing with downlights as on the plan. The site supervisor asked if we could get the fence screens installed this week, apparently the council will be coming around to do a preliminary report soon. Next week the floors should go in, boards first followed by carpets. Then we should get a call from the handover department. Still looks like we may have the keys by the end of October. Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 169Sep 27, 2011 7:16 am Hi, WOW!!!! Everything looks amazing chats! You guys must be so excited! Will you all move in straight after handover? We will need to wait until we have a fence and flooring. What else is left to do now? We have just had the inside painted. The next step is now electrical, plumbing and rendering. Trudy Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 170Sep 27, 2011 8:20 am Hi Trudy We would move in today if we could! This coming weekend marks one year since we moved to 'The Shed" and we are sooooo ready to move out. The kids have been (mostly) good about sharing a room and limited space but the fights and power games (no I won't leave, you'll have to get dressed in the bathroom) have escalated lately. So on many many levels we are just beside ourselves with anticipation. We probably won't have a driveway for a while, the landscapers want to do the pool area and other "hardscaping" first so the driveway wobt be damaged. The plan is to extend the driveway across the front of the house for extra parking, and in such a way that it doesnt look like a parking lot. I'm on a mission to see whether we can have a wider crossover too. We also just received agreement from the body corporate behind us to replace the second half of the back fence which is a big relief. It's all so good to see it come together. I'm sure you can relate!! Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 171Sep 27, 2011 8:37 am It's looking fabulous guys! I did notice the temp fence had been removed when I flew past on my way to the Library yesterday! I let out a little 'Yay!!' I hope all your issues are rectified to your liking, and everything else runs smoothly towards the finish. You are so close, I hope you have champers in the fridge!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... Champers...well, our old neighbor gave us a bottle of Moet when we settled on this black last year, I will put it in the fridge, good advice. Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 173Sep 27, 2011 6:14 pm Looks Great guys, bet you can't wait to see the flooring going in..?? that will bring it all together nicely. What are they doing about the baulkhead? the framer missed the baulkhead on ours above the kitchen cupboards as well, how about that ? we got an independant inspector out at frame stage and he spotted that one. not long now !! Cheers G Ger Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 174Sep 27, 2011 6:56 pm Amazing, love the WIS.would love to see pic when you have your fire in. You must be close now? Chatz Re: Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 177Sep 27, 2011 11:31 pm Omg chatz, you've almost finished! Your pics r great I can't believe u just walked in and turned lights on! Hehe. I went and visited ours today. Interior paint finished, all doors painted and hung, handles on cabinetry, powerpoints in and exterior doors at back have been painted. The bath tub and all sinks r sitting in the theatre room ready to be fitted in. One thing I noticed was that in our colour appt we had very clearly said we wanted tiles in our ensuite floor to run seamlessly up the shower wall. They haven't done this. They've put diff colour tiles on the wall.... Not sure if I can be bothered getting this fixed at this stage. I still haven't been able to upload photos its too confusing. Chatz, I tried your way but I get stuck half way through. Trudy Knockdown and building Henley's Talise Q2 - At Fixing 178Sep 27, 2011 11:51 pm Trudy, Would you believe we wandered around for 5 minutes with a torch before I thought to turn the lights on? I'll send you a link to another thread that has instructions doing it differently to me.
