Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Piazza 300... Go away rain! 62Dec 07, 2011 12:32 pm So we got the call last week to say handover will be on the 15th, 16th, or 19th. We've been so excited that we'll be in before xmas.... untill now..... The house is basically finished except for the exterior staining and driveway, we've been waiting for weeeeeks for these to be done as the weather has been terrible. On Monday the ss told hubby the driveway would be poured on Wednesday, but of course today it's pouring! During the day on Monday and yesterday the weather was fine but apparantly they don't work if the forecast says possible rain (regardless of the bright blue sky!). We are so close but now I'm getting really worried about xmas as the forecast for next week still says rain. I know the weather has been really bad the last month but we've still had several good days inbetween, it's just so frustrating driving past on a nice day and the concretors are no where to be seen! (I know they would be behind on other jobs too but that doesn't make me feel any better lol ) Rant over Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 63Dec 07, 2011 1:37 pm I keep my fingers crossed for you. The weather is fustrating. I must say we were so lucky thru most of the building process... Our driveway and footpaths went in, no problems, our pool is finished and filled with water and yesterday all our garden edgeing was done (despite the rain forecast). Today is very ugly out there. Dont worry, you will be in... stop rain, go away!!! Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 64Dec 08, 2011 8:06 pm Thanks tan, you are lucky to have your landscaping done before you move, we will be moving into a mud pit lol. Hubby saw ss today and he says we will be in yay! We will just have to wait for the new year to get the driveway coloured but that's fine. I know in the whole sceme of things if we don't make it for xmas it's not a huge deal but we've told the kids we'll be in and Santa is bringing lots of things for their new rooms, not to mention all the people we've invited over! Just feeling a little stressed at the moment, we are a family of 5 living in 2 bedrooms at my mums house and been here for 18 months. Handover day is going to feel like winning the lotto! Tiles are finished and they look fantastic, carpet in tomorrow woohoo! Thinking positive Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 65Dec 09, 2011 11:13 am I totally understand how you feel. Everything has been going so smooth, but now I am stressing a little also. Our carpets are also in. Electrical is 98% finished... they will be back on monday just to fit a couple of last things, tilig is being done outdoors, it will continue next week, front pillars, grouting etc. If it continues to rain, we might struggle getting the lawn down. couple of things will only happen in the new year, then its to make sure bank will make final payment despite that, so we can get into the house. Dont wanna pay rent for another month! Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 68Dec 16, 2011 9:35 am Just read your post on my threas, yeah for you handover today! fantastic. We have some things on the list also that will be fixed after xmas. Appearantly everything is in writing. Enjoy the day. Cant wait to see more pics... Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 69Jan 04, 2012 9:08 pm Hope all went well with the move and that Santa was good to you Can't wait to see pics! Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 70Jan 05, 2012 6:12 am Move went well thanks! Absolutely loving our new home and all our choices! Almost finished unpacking and hubby has started digging out for our front retaining wall. Still a couple of things here and there that will need some attention but I have full confidence in our ss. Microwave doesn't fit in the space even though we specified the size. Apparently the kitchen people use external measurements, so they've used our internal measurements as external and as a result it won't fit. They're making a new cabinet so it should be fixed soon, I hate seeing the microwave on the bench! We've started meeting the neighbours and they all seem lovely! Bring on the landscaping ***pics coming soon!*** Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 71Jan 06, 2012 12:27 pm Great to hear everything is moving along well for you. I am still pinching myself sometimes and it seems so weird living in a brand new home... Re: Our Piazza 300.... Go away rain!!! 72May 16, 2012 9:22 pm selina2106 have loved reading this tread about your experience and seeing the updates of your new house. currently in the process of looking at house's and land to hopefully soon lock something in and start the whole process, it's a little bit scary to be honest. If you don't mind me asking did you have a budget on how much you wanted to spend and if so did you go over/under your budget? we have had a look at a number of display homes but pretty much fell in love with a sekisui design, I have my budget and I'm trying to get an idea if all the upgrades things I want are going to fall within that budget or not, but having problems getting prices from the sales guy we are dealing with, I know they can't give me an exact dollar amount but surely an estimate isn't too much to ask?! Looking forward to seeing the landscaping photos. I've got a challenge here. Background is the builder has cut too deep for the slab and the slab is now below the very substantial retaining wall.
