Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 31, 2011 1:11 pm Hi, guys My friend recently hassle with issues b/w builder and engineer. He paid external engineer to design the engineering structural report for his new house, engineering issued Computations & Compliance Certificate. then passed to builder for building permit. But now, builder returned to him and said the 2nd floor window lining design in the engineer report is suitable for colorbond roof not concrete roof tiles. His house is 2 storey townhouse and builder questioned about original engineering design for 2nd floor windows lining cannot hold up the weight of concrete roof tiles PS: He made amendment on roof and change to concrete roof tiles rather than colorbond. Just wondering if he need to make engineer re-draw the design for the whole house or just make little amendment on the original window design is enough? Thanks so much. As My friend has no ID overhere, He urgently ask me for help ! Re: change roof materials, has to change engineer Computatio 2Mar 31, 2011 2:42 pm As the overall load from the roof has changed there may be a major redesign design of the whole structure, although its unlikely. I would think at the very least that everything needs to be checked. If the drawings have been produced electronically it shouldn't be too expensive to change.
