Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 31, 2011 10:52 am One of the smaller builders has offered to show us around a house he has just built (obviously he doesn't have a display home). I am a complete newbie when it comes to building or looking at houses. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for what I should be looking for to assess the quality of the build? Re: Any tips for looking at a just built house? 2Mar 31, 2011 11:18 am Just look at the finish of different things like paint, joins in cabinetry, etc... Look for gaps around doors and windows and have a look to see if there are big differences in mortar lines of the bricking and grout lines in tiling. Also, ask about some of the features and if they are standard inclusions or not. If every thing they show you is an upgrade its hardly worth looking at it. Thank you so much. This has been very helpful. We definitely wish to settle and get these people out of our life. They are trying to charge us interest on late… 7 9359 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days? Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 4672 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 6197 |
