Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 30, 2011 10:47 am We got our Polyflor vinyl wood planks installed in December and due to the first installer not prepping the floor correctly some of it was pulled up and replaced by another installer. The initial price included a 2mm feather finish coat and we had to pay $1200.00 extra for an additional coat due to our slab being in pretty poor condition in some areas. They have since ripped up 60% of it and resanded and preped the floor again and the result is still appalling. Its so dissapointing when strangers comment on your uneven floors and evident lumps in it. Its been 3 months now and still waiting on them strip and sand it due to different textures in some of the planks that were replaced. I really just want the flooring company to take the whole thing off and replace it with another product seeing as they cannot get the installation right. Anyone else had problems? or suggestions? Re: Vinyl Floor Plank Installation - bumpy and not happy! 2Mar 30, 2011 10:51 am Is the house a new build? Is there any chance you can go back to the builder and discuss the un-even slab with them? Have you made payment to the flooring company? You could always take it higher, to a manager etc as that usually expedites things...for people to notice straight out that your flooring is uneven it must be pretty bad! We have the same problem, but with floor tiles. We had a contractor come in and lay them and they were so uneven, in the end, the builder paid the contractor to come back, rip them up, even up the slab and then relay them. Good luck The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Re: Vinyl Floor Plank Installation - bumpy and not happy! 3Mar 30, 2011 11:59 am It is a new build and the builder doesnt give a damn, the slab was absolutely appalling and they did promise to put levelling compound on but never eventuated, then when we told them we had to pay an extra $1200 and they should reimburse they wouldnt come to the party. At the end of the day, the floor installer should not have laid them if he couldnt achieve a level finish. Building at Sierra Estate. Re: Vinyl Floor Plank Installation - bumpy and not happy! 4Apr 04, 2011 10:33 pm Sorry to hear about the bad experience. If the vinyl is not installed on a level surface the warranty is generally void as well as there will be uneven wear. I would call the company and request them to fix the issue or simply call fair trade and report it. Do you have in writing that the floor levelling is included? My husband is the head vinyl layer for one of the biggest flooring companies in Australia and he got there being exceptional at his job and charging fair prices for his work when there are plenty of cowboys out there who don't do either. Unfortunately there doesn't sound like there's a lot that can be done now that the floor is down. Your builder would have most likely brought the tiles from one of the big 4 flooring companies. Gary, my husband, has worked for 3 of these and I can assure you they are all very interested when a bad installation has happened and use all means to resolve the situation including using the $2000 bond must layers pay when starting employment for situations such as this. If you can find out who the company the tiles were brought from, you may still have a chance at having the floor replaced at no cost to yourself as they all offer many years installation warranty. There's no reason the builder should with hold this information. You have every right to know where your tiles came from. Good luck.
