Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 29, 2011 7:50 pm What is reasonable? Originally received standard inclusions list a few months ago which listed a particular model oven. After researching everything we signed an authority to proceed. Now we have received contracts which mention a different oven model When I queried this I was told original list of standard inclusions had a TYPO I said it wouldve been nice to be made aware of this prior to contract and requested a quote for the original oven. $800 extra I said we would be following this further and office lady said she would have to check with the boss to see what if anything he would do. Just wondering what others would do? Is it to much to expect the oven that was included in all the standard inclusions list (even on internet)? If this is unreasonable would you expect some other sort of deal? Not willing to pay $800 more for the oven Any thoughts appreciated thanks Katrina Re: Change to standard inclusions - HELP!!!! 2Mar 29, 2011 7:56 pm Have you got a printed copy of the standard inclusions? Does it have a disclaimer anywhere stating they are subject to change at any time without notice? If there is any type of disclaimer to a simlilar point, then you're out of luck unless you can negotiate the deal. You could always tell them they have to give you the oven for you'll walk. If there is no disclaimer then you should be able to demand the oven at no cost to you. Re: Change to standard inclusions - HELP!!!! 3Mar 29, 2011 8:25 pm Certainly have a printed copy ( have been given a number of them along the way) and no disclaimer to be found. Will definately be pursuing this further thanks for your input Re: Change to standard inclusions - HELP!!!! 4Mar 29, 2011 8:45 pm Definitely a tricky one... Did you sign the specification list at any point? If they haven't got you to sign one, they can change any items up until you either sign the spec, or sign the contracts, because until then nothing is locked in and inclusions change. If you have signed one, then yes they have to honour that. I would definitely try to bargain with the builder over it, but from my experience they will not give in to it, unless they really need your business. Be aware that if they do end up including it you would be paying for it in the end anyway, as they will most certainly get their money back within the costs of any further changes you make - there is no such thing as a "freebie" or "discount" in the building industry. Thanks. There are plenty of builders around my suburb. I'll make sure to do some door-to-door knocking, or note their building details on the temp fence. 4 4747 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35326 5 10477 |
