Re: How/ what exactly is soil removal.. 3Mar 29, 2011 11:52 am Excavation costs relatively little. But then you have all this soil to remove. This can cost quite a bit, especially if it has some asbestos mixed in it. Make sure soil removal (aka exportation) is included in your contract (or at least a rate that is reasonable). Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: How/ what exactly is soil removal.. 4Mar 29, 2011 12:01 pm Thanks guy. I had it out of contract... and I have done demolition, and site work. The land is flat now... but the builder called me yesterday and asked if I have had soil removal done. I am like wth is soil removal... So you mean, i have to find someone to dig the dirt and remove all the soil? Or is the builder going to dig down and put the soil aside for me to remove?... I am quite confused. How/ what exactly is soil removal.. 5Mar 29, 2011 12:23 pm When the builder digs down to make trenches for the slab they pile the soil up in one spot. How/ what exactly is soil removal.. 7Mar 29, 2011 9:19 pm It should nt affect your slab being put down unless you have a tight block with minimal access. I think builders prefer the soil moved within a couple of days as it gives them better access to your site, and to start dropping off bricks, framing, bins. We were told when signing our contract that we only had a couple of days after trenching to remove our soil for the above reasons. We only knew our slab prep was starting because of the phone call we got from the guy willing to remove our soil, not actually from our builder. So if u don't want to move it straight away I guess you can wait until ur builder calls telling you to move it... But then you might be spending a day ringing people seeing if they can squeeze you in. PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you.
