Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 25, 2011 5:58 pm Ok, so our builder gets costas to do all there electrical At the moment there only doing the bare basics and we will get someone else after handover as we have heard there quite expensive but we are giving them the opportunity to atleast quote us I was given a price list and told to roughly work out what we wanted and go from there can some one please explain these 3 items for me (i think i could be possibly having a dumb day "Wire additional light points standard/eaves $40" "wiring only of wall light point (no light fitting included) $50" "supply and install 240v white downlight with globe e/o to light point $42" So what im trying to work out is , say the builder is given up an allowance of 1 light in the room but we want 6 downlights instead, what do we have to pay for? Do we have 6 "supply and install 240v white dowling with globe e/o to light point" or 5 (bearing in mind we would have paid for 1 light to be fitted in that room already" Does supply and install include wiring? What im trying to work out also is that we went to the light place and they wanted $30 for each helogen downlight , so to me $42 for a supply and install doesnt seem that bad sorry for my ramblings - i just wanted to try and get a rough price for electricals over the weekend and there not open till monday to question these things with them Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: A quick question for those who have dealt with Costas El 2Mar 28, 2011 9:24 am Hi Amanda This is what we did.......way back when.......... double power points $54.00 each 12 total weatherproof double power points $90.00 each need them 2 total bathroom tastics $320.00 each 2 total supply & install fixed low voltage down lights $56.00 each 59 total plus additional wire for the extra lights $7700 approx just check if you need that many lights, we put bayonet lights in the bedrooms and a light at the laundry door at the back as it wasn't on the plans. All has turned out really great apart from the fact that 2 of the down lights have already blown We dealt with the electrician when he came on site and he was fantastic......he was subcontracted from Costas just starting Lake View Lodge - Beechwood deposit 17/08/09 Council April 10 signed contract 11/06 earthworks started 9/07 slab completed 8/09/10 Frames 21/09/10 bricking finished 13/10/10 roof 22/10/10 Gyprock 22/11/10 Tiles bathroom 21/12/10 Kitchen in 21/12/10 Painting 09/02/11 handover 11/03/11 We are in 15/03/11!!!!!!!! http://kathdom.blogspot.com/ Re: A quick question for those who have dealt with Costas El 3Mar 28, 2011 1:48 pm Thanks Kathy Wow, thats a huge amount of downlights. do you find you need them all or is it an over kill I have put in 37 thought the hallway, alfresco, media room, living rooms and kids toy room. we have put in exterior lights either side of the garage doors and also across the front and its cam to $7. i really wanted to do the electrical before handover so there is less mess and less mucking around but i dont think it will be happening at that price, we have other quoting us at the moment so we will see Our Acreage Build The Lakeview Lodge - Beechwood Homes 01/04/10 YES 2010 - Deposit paid 23/09 - PCI CANCELLED 28/09 - PCI - will it happen.-18 months later 07/10/11 - ITS OURS..WOOHOO Re: A quick question for those who have dealt with Costas El 4Mar 28, 2011 2:03 pm I think there is a bit of overkill, but gee it looks effective at night. Because we had different sections of lights on different switches, we can turn bits on or off when we want, so not all the lights have to be on at the same time. Will try and take photo tonight of lights on. just starting Lake View Lodge - Beechwood deposit 17/08/09 Council April 10 signed contract 11/06 earthworks started 9/07 slab completed 8/09/10 Frames 21/09/10 bricking finished 13/10/10 roof 22/10/10 Gyprock 22/11/10 Tiles bathroom 21/12/10 Kitchen in 21/12/10 Painting 09/02/11 handover 11/03/11 We are in 15/03/11!!!!!!!! http://kathdom.blogspot.com/ Re: A quick question for those who have dealt with Costas El 5Mar 30, 2011 12:47 pm thanks for that Kathy, would love to see some more photos we were going to have the lounge where your dining table is on one switch, the kitchen on another switch and in the other corner nr the formal lounge/dining we were going to have our dining room table and have that on another switch.
