Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2011 6:24 pm We are due to have handover of our house in the next couple of weeks and are just wondering if it's worth having an indepedent inspection done? We have previously had inspections done at frame stage and lockup and everything went pretty smoothly, with no major issues raised. Have others who have had handover inspections done found it worth the money, or do they just pick up small things like painting etc? Thanks in advance! Re: Independent inspection before handover or not? 2Mar 23, 2011 7:09 pm I definitely think it was worth it. Our inspector didn't pick up any painting issues (I think our painters must have been pretty good!) but did pick up on things I wouldn't have noticed, like window seals, missing/not good enough mortar and scratches on windows, just from memory. I'm sure there were more things. "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. Currently scaping the land.
