Hi
Hoping someone can offer some advice. Have a friend building first home. Have already passed on some valuable advice via this website. My friend rang last night to say that the new neighbour has rung and asked that any plans go for him to look at before council. This new neighbour is telling my friend what can and can't be built (the council doesn't stipulate what can or can't, just what is preferred).
Anyone out there been through something like this? What right does a neighbour have in asking to see the plans before they go to council? I advised my friend to work with the builder to ensure that the new home is compliant and take it to council. The neighbour will get to see the plans then. I have already pointed out things like being aware of neighbours privacy/overlooking neighbours property, blocking of light to neighbour that the neighbour may object to so the design of the new home I believe takes this into account.
And, in NSW, what with the planning regulations? There is the state and then council? If it is compliant with one, is it compliant with the other?
Thanks in advance
