Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 21, 2011 9:18 pm Hi All, Just wondering if anyone on the forum has had an issue with their builder/kitchen supplier saying that they cannot lineup the grain in a woodgrain laminate like Lustrious Elm when running it horizontal? I was in LOVE with this laminate and we were planning to have it along our pantry wall, our underbench cupboards/drawers and island bench ends. Our kitchen plan is below. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My question is what do people think of this seeing as they cannot guarantee us that it will line up? I can only seem to find pictures where the grain lines up. It just seems so unreasonable that we have to pay extra for this laminate and then they cannot even guarantee to line it up for us! We have the same problem with our bathroom vanities too with Chalky Teak. I was so excited about this laminate running it horizontally on our cupboards and the bench top and now I am just so anxious that it is going to look stupid if not lined up? Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks! Re: Lustrious Elm - Help? 2Mar 21, 2011 9:20 pm We have a long strip of Lustrous Elm along a profile shelve above our splashback, and our builder has lined up the join just fine Re: Lustrious Elm - Help? 3Mar 21, 2011 9:25 pm Erin, yes I love your lustrious elm, your kitchen is gorgeous and went a long way to persuading me to change from the licorice linea to this and I am so glad I did - well that was until our builder, well actually the kitchen supplier, said they would not be able to line up the grains! I do not believe it is a matter of "they can't" as from what I can tell more often than not they are lined up, but rather "they won't" as it is more work I am guessing? Re: Lustrious Elm - Help? 4Mar 21, 2011 9:38 pm That's a terrible attitude. Continue to push them, surely it cannot be too hard? Hi there, long-time lurker but first time posting. I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7897 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain. Do you have access to NCC Part 2 or can you download it? I can email you a copy… 10 12460 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7140 |
