Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 20, 2011 6:34 pm I was wondering if anyone had a rough idea on price per square or square metre of a home to lockup stage. I was considering getting the lower level of our split level reverse living home done only to lockup stage, and would imagine a substantial price difference. Say if our house was approximately $800 a square metre to build to finished level, would I be expecting around $300, $400, $500 or more to leave at lockup? We will only really have the garage/ workshop, a theatre at a later stage and the laundry (which will be finished) downstairs. So most of this can be finished at a later date. Are there any other implications to building this way? Legal requirements or the like...? Cheers, doogs82 Re: Rough price difference between lockup and finished stage 2Mar 20, 2011 8:19 pm Lockup is generally 60 to 65% of the value of the completed house. You can gauge this from typical progress payments (less 5 to 10% since builders like to be ahead in progress payments).
