Yes you need to visit each supplier at their premises but it's good though because you do it at your own pace and you are talking to the people who are doing the work. Then you have a final selections appointment when you go through all of your choices and sign off on them. We're renting in Bayswood! Love the area. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 42Apr 06, 2011 9:23 pm Wildorchid, your "rant" made for an interesting read. It's always good to know how to avoid headaches where ever possible, especially for first time builders such as myself. The "Dechellis group" on these forums always make for good reads, including this thread. Photos are always great to look at during the building and selection process. My partner and I are in the process for saving for a deposit to build the Monaco, possibly in Mount Barker or Nairne. We absolutely fell in love with the Monaco floor plan and after seeing the display home at Munno Para we fell in love even more. Dechellis definitely seem like a good builder to deal with and after seeing the Monaco, nothing else really compares now. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 43Apr 07, 2011 2:26 pm nomorebellybumps - we know all too well about the 'quiet market', it took us 6 months to sell (last october) but i wouldnt budge on price. we ended up doing subject to sale because it was our only offer, it was a pain to wait, but worked out in the end. good luck with yours. we also got a quote from avjen, but by the time we added on everything dechellis had, it ended up being about the same, if not more. their start price is alot less, but when you add things on like 9ft ceilings and portico/render....it jumps up to the same! Hi lockstock. the monaco was one we considered too, we also looked at mt barker too, even though the blocks were bigger, their set back was 7 metres (i think) so our house was too long (our set back is 4m). i agree, nothing else really compares, when you walk into other display homes. apart from the builders that are $500k!! i sent an email to our sales guy clarifying some things (from my rant) and he replied to confirm he recieved it and will discuss it with the team and advise.....so im eagerly awaiting his further reply Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 44Apr 14, 2011 10:59 pm We are also selling but only one or two through opens. Lots of houses for sale so it appears to be a quiet market although according to agent they are selling. We are also building at G0lden Gr0ve. I thought I bookmarked your thread but hadn't, have now though. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 45Apr 28, 2011 1:56 pm update..... OMG!!!! what a headache over the past 4 weeks, can you believe i only got an answer yesterday, after 8 follow ups!!!!! their customer service is SHOCKING. dramatically decreased after they got our $2k and furthermore after we signed the contract! they just dont care anymore!!! I had a phone call followed by an email to confirm all the prices we were asking, now if i were told the correct information in the first instance i wouldnt dispute the price, but we were delibrately misled by the sales guy. i sent my feedback expressing by dissapointment to the customer relations and sales manager. no surprise i havent got a reply from customer relations.....how disgustingly poor and the reply i got from the sales manager was pretty much sorry and thats it. they dont know how to handle customer resolutions....very unprofessional. they better build a good house, because i have just aout had enough. oh and we were told our joinery door was for 2 doors (like a cupboard) not one big one. the sales guy knew exactly what we wanted and she said it doesnt say one door in the specs.....but hello.....it doesnt say its for 2 either!! they will try any scam to get more money. be ware and get everything in writting!!!! even if its the smallest detail that you think wont matter....maybe it will....even if its clear, make sure its extra extra clear! Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 46Apr 28, 2011 2:08 pm Oh no, not a good start - you should write to Rick Dechellis and let him know how upset you are. It's his business so he should care. It is frustrating to have these delays at the beginning of the process - it took us 10 weeks to get the correct plan - they had put the garage up to the boundary (not allowed on our block which they would have known) instead of 2 metres away and they didn't flip the house so it was round the right way (they would have known where the driveway was located). Stay cool - it will be worth it - we are oohing and aahing over our house and it's moving along very quickly. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 47May 02, 2011 3:09 pm i wrote an email addressed to the general manager, hopefully we hear something this afternoon. I also rang sampina this morning, i asked if crystal gloss was cheaper than 2pac, she answered with "ïts pretty much the same"....well that doesnt really give me anything!! then i asked for our 3D drawings, she said they dont do them until just before the job is done. i said i want to see what it would look like with the 1 or 2 doors and she said they can change it, but i said then dechellis will charge us for a variation.....we need to decide before our final meeting. she was rude and unhelpful and i asked to speak to john. he was just as unhelpful and soooo rude. we said the same thing the other lady did. i explained to him that we have had issues and i need them to sort things our so we can finally make a decision. and he went on about, some people come in and say, but my friends got drawings, we dont do them for dechellis. if you go with scott salisbury or the like, you get them cos they charge more, we are a fast turn around company, we are in and out. i said dechellis arnt 'cheap' (they are not as expensive as some, but not cheap like others). the way he was talking to me i had to say "if thats what your saying, i dont have a lot of confidence that your going to give me a good quality kitchen" he just said well youve been to the display homes, what you see is what you get. i cant believe he honestly does not care about his company! Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 48May 02, 2011 3:20 pm wildorchid, I can sympathise with you - we are in exactly the same boat. We have ticked off everything down to locks on windows which cost $15 but we don't get to see what the kitchen will look like until it's about to go in and that's only because I faxed them and then spoke to John who said he would make a note to send us a copy. It is a bit stressful IMO as the kitchen is the most important room in the house (and most expensive) and it's gotta be right. Even though it's way cheaper, you get better service from Wallspan - they provide a 3D drawing at your appointment with them so you know straight away what you are getting. It just doesn't make sense does it? Hopefully you will be able to work your way through the frustrations! Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 50May 02, 2011 10:50 pm Wow, their customer service sound terrible! How does your selection process work? do you go to Sampina & decide what you like & then finalise it during your final selection appointment. Or would you normally do it all at Sampina but because you have been given the runaround it has been dragged on? Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 52May 04, 2011 3:06 pm Yeah, we have done external colours, carpet, timber flooring. We had Beaumonts today. We went with 300x600mm porcelain rectified to all wet areas With feature walls in a mocha colour & remaining walls in an off white. Dechellis inspired actually hahaha, like one of the displays at Playford alive. Joinery tomorrow Thankfully we are both the type to know what we want as soon as we see it so we're all good at selections. Although it's when its all finalised that I get worried cos then I start to second guess myself. CN0872.jpg we are having 2 joinery doors at each end, for the pantry and laundry. we are undecided on one wide door (for each) or 2 doors for each, which will look like a cupboard. do you think one wide door will look out of place because of the size of the other cupboard, or will it not matter as it will be balanced with one on each end? we like essastone pannacotta, and pumice for cupboards. and still the dark metallic brown for splashback, but im a little worried the bench and cupboards will blend too much. we could go the dechellis stonington beige or buff tone (this is the 2pac colour they use in their displays) but sometimes it can look a little green. and im not sure this will go with the pelt wall colour (same as wild orchid display - one shade darker than mouse) i havent seen a colour i like thats a bit darker than pumice??? we could also consider crystal gloss, does anyone know how the edge strips are on the metallic? (i dont like the plain plastic look on the pumice colour) or safe option, stick with pumice but do we need more contrast with the bench? go byzantine - as above photo? then theres the bathrooms! i love marble, i originally wanted a light colour, this one is creme marfil. but im unsure if it looks too "cracked", the veins look more like a crack than veins....im not sure if im happy with that. http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww24 ... CN0451.jpg if we were to go light bench, we would go our dark floor tiles up the pillars.....or do we go light wall tiles on the pillars and a dark bench http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww24 ... CN0009.jpg i love the emprador marble in the ensuite, but im a little unsure if its too much for the open vanity of the main bathroom? then theres the issue of what colour cupboards! i think i can get away with the darker stonington beige in the ensuite because i have seen it on display with the tiles, but in the main bathroom vanity, there is the issue of it matching the paint colour, im not sure if the dark marble would suit either. so if i get my marble in the ensuite, i can always go essastone in the main, but i kinda wanted the whole house matching, i know its far away from eachother, but i like how classic and consistent their displays are....thoughts??? TIA Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 54May 06, 2011 11:09 am Yay - great news that you are now happy with D! I can't help with your decisions as I actually didn't like the Wild Orchid but I see a lot of "love this" "love that" in your note so go with your heart and you won't be sorry. Good luck with Sampina tomorrow - don't leave until you have all your questions answered! Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 55May 06, 2011 11:58 am I really like the ensuite photo and colours I prefer light colours in the bathrooms as the room is quite small so it helps to make it look more airy rather than closed in. Is there another light tile you could choose if you're not sure about the veins in the tile? It's probably too late for you to check out bathroom showrooms to get an idea of what colours look like together; we had a look at Beaumonts and they have a number of display bathrooms. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 56May 06, 2011 12:36 pm So glad you're happy again As for your selections The joinery doors - one wide door. 2 doors in a traffic area may be impractical. imagine going through the door with bags and catching one of them etc. the kitchen - a dark splash with lighter cupboards and benches will look gorgeous and very classic (however, see below). the wild orchid display cupboard and colours work well together too. Another choice for cupboards would be Formica Doeskin - a true medium beige with no green at all. I have this in my kitchen and love it - it is a perfect match for Mouse (and by that I mean its the exact same colour) so will go with Pelt. The bathrooms - from memory the W.O has large bathrooms, so you can afford to go darker. I just love those chocolate marble benches. If it were me I'd have the same choices in both bathrooms. Having said that, we also wanted the powder room to match the kitchen bench because you can see them from each room (yes, I have a matching disorder too ) ....how much for dark marble in the kitchen.......... I know exactly how you feel about the paint not matching, green coming out in the choices etc. If it makes you feel better, the Mouse/Pelt family is a forgiving colour and takes on the hue of whatever its put next to. I'm planning on putting deck lights along the outside edge of a large deck. Will need about 3 packs (18 lights) plus… 0 23025 |
