Re: modified wild orchid / dechellis / SA - PCI done! 374Oct 28, 2011 8:41 am Wildorchid, we had so many issues with the quality of painting and the subsequent patch ups. We also refused to pay the last cheque until it was done to our satisfaction. Even when we did move in at handover, there were still some painting patch up required. Try to get as much completed before the last cheque goes to them as we are STILL chasing them (almost 11 months down the track) to fix some of the sarking in our roof. Sounds like you are pretty close! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! Re: modified wild orchid / dechellis / SA - Handover 4/11 376Oct 28, 2011 9:48 am so......... wednesday afternoon, had to argue to get handover delayed. they dead set still wanted it done. i simply said, if its not finished, youre not getting your cheque. they kept saying if its 95% or livable, it still has to go ahead, but if i didnt give the $ they wont give the keys. i said then whats the point of still doing handover, they said they needed paperwork signed, i said no......blah blah blah......this went on for a bit. the SS said if we do handover they will organise to have ALL the trades come back one day next week. but i dont have time to wait around at the house all day for trades to do their work. so then i went to the house to check on progress and this guy called from D (im not sure of his title, but im assuming hes a manager of some sort) i went thru my list of items that still needed to be done. he decided to make a time to meet us there on thursday to go thru everything. he went thru everything on the inspectors list, even though i had already checked of most of it. he wanted to double check everything. the 2 major items were the feature tiles, which the tiler had already ripped all down and was re tiling. then it came to the splashback (which had 2 small half circles cut at the top) he wanted my view on why they were there.....and i knew what he was getting at. after the selection person made a huge mistake on our paperwork, she called and apologised and promised to help if we needed anything. so when we decided we wanted to add a couple lights we called and she turned and said if i have to pick up the phone im charging a variation. its not like we were changing a selection, just adding, which is more for them anyway. so we said dont worry we will organise it ourself. so we contacted the electrician, and that was not a problem. so his point was it wasnt on the plan and the glass man saw the wires and assumed we were having the triangle lights in the corner between the overhead and the glass (rather than in the cabinetry). he wasnt blaming us, he was not very happy with the glass man and the electrician. but he was surprisingly nice about it and said he would replace it. i really feel bad for the electrician because he was just trying to help us by not going through the builder. i do believe its the glass mans fault, i doubt he would have even looked at the electrical plan and if he did there would have been nothing on there so he should have questioned it rather than assuming what type of light it was. and surprisingly they did alot of work already before 10am and alot more was crossed off our list. so i felt a little silly making such a HUGE issue of it. but at the end of the day, its still not finished and its easier for them to fix while they have the key instead of me. so the only things left are scratch on gutter scratch on side entry window shower head wobbly splashback 2 spots to touch up for silicone scratch on laundry door window 1 spot touch up paint feature tiles noisy fan so the list is quite small compared to before! hopefully they can manage and organise next week better than this week Re: modified wild orchid / dechellis / SA - Handover 4/11 377Oct 28, 2011 9:59 am Good on you standing up to them I bet it wasn't easy. But it sounds like it definitely helped get things moving along for you! Here's hoping for next week! If you look at my thread you will see that we are still waiting for things to be fixed and a lot of things will go on the 3 month maintenance - who knows how long that will take .... Isn't it amazing how quickly they can work when you hold the power!! Don't feel silly - they said to us they are only minor things ... well if they are so minor why didn't they fix them before handover I like the way they tried to force you by saiying 95% livable it has to go ahead - we were told if you can't see it from a metre away you don't worry about it - WT???? Re: modified wild orchid / dechellis / SA - Handover 4/11 379Oct 28, 2011 10:37 am WO, did you get an inspectors report throughout the build or just at PCl? Would you have found as many of the things that need repairing? Good on you for insisting they fix the things now https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: modified wild orchid / dechellis / SA - Handover 4/11 380Oct 28, 2011 11:57 am thanks.....luckily we are in no rush (we have it pretty good at the parents) and our tiler couldnt start until next thursday anyway, so the house would have been sitting a week doing nothing. when we told the tiler friday, he said thats fine, hes flexible. we only got the inspector at pci, last minute decision. ive been so stressed lately, i didnt want all the pressure on us to pick things up. there was a number of things he picked up, not major, but at least we got everything on the list now rather than later. So I'm just reading up on this ecosystem of lights. I'm planning on putting deck lights along the outside edge of a large deck. Will need about 3 packs (18 lights) plus… 0 23021 |
