im new to this forum we are currently at selection stage.....its so hard, we dont know what we want!! i love the look of dechellis homes.....although paperwork stage is too long any feedback on dechellis/comments welcome Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 3Mar 18, 2011 2:51 pm Welcome wildorchid. Your plan looks great. I agree, selections is so hard. It's very hard not to doubt your selections once they're made either. I was very surprised at how early I needed to start considering the colour selections and I still felt rushed to make decisions. This site has been excellent in working out our colours. Have you come across the other Dechellis home building threads on this site? There have been quite a few that have built with Dechellis. You might get ideas from them. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 4Mar 18, 2011 3:01 pm Welcome Wildorchid. Your plan is great, your house is going to be so big. I found colour selections really difficult, and only relaxed about them, as I saw how it all came together. We built the Entertainer (with some modifications) last year and have been in our house for 5 months. We found our build to be relatively easy compared to some of the builders that we have read about on here and we really like the extra attention to detail that Dechellis homes have. We are still in the process of getting all of our defects rectified from handover, however I'm sure that eventually we will have the house we want. I agree that selections are tough. Try visiting display villages and looking at what combinations you like. I'm sure you get what you like eventually. Hope your build goes well ... I will follow your progress with interest. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 6Mar 25, 2011 12:26 pm We did italia ceramics and apbc and laminex this week. spent way too much at apbc!! but at least you knew exactly how much any item is, where are tiles or laminate, your picking things having no idea how much extra they are going to cost! which makes selections really hard, so we picked wish list and have a back up too incase its too much. frank at apbc was so nice! he also advised us of hidden costs....undermount sink/basins, the stoneware people charge about $300 PER BOWL to polish the inside cut!!! so theres $1200 gone! and the other thing we need to be aware of is the door frame for the inf8 door and they will charge extra for varnishing and extra on top because it has glass in it. gosh....they really get you and rip you off! im still a little unsure about colours, so i have some pics to share.... kitchen colours, frappe top with 2pac pumice. i wanted a light bench, but we have too many cupboards to go dark, i dont like having 2 different colour cupboards and i hate white. im unsure because the colours are so similar, but will break up by having the metallic brown glass splash back and crystalgloss under island bench. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 7Mar 25, 2011 8:01 pm Hi Wildorchid If I had read your post properly in the GG thread, I would have seen the link to your thread before posting my reply Could you explain what 2pac means? And I'm not sure what you mean by undermount sinks either (sorry for ignorance - I haven't looked at selection centres yet) The photo for ensuite backup - I think the french nougat may be a bit busy for the oyster linea. For the kitchen - what is the true colour of the oyster linea? one of the photos looks almost white whereas the other looks quite beige. I am soooo not looking forward to colour selections! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 8Mar 25, 2011 8:41 pm 2pac is paint sprayed on, the edges are beautiful and smooth (no edge strips like laminate) and high gloss, as seen in this bathroom, also that is an undermount basin Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and this is undermount sink Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ looking at samples the french nougat does look busy for linea, but that is what they have used in the display home Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ i dont have a full picture of the vanity, but you can just see it in the corner Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ the lady at laminex also thought linea didnt go with byzantine, but then i pulled out the picture and said "well, see!" I love your plan - totally awesome I'll need some more time to go through your selections I can answer one question though - you can have the bath centred in the hob, you just have to tell them so its written into the plan. It shouldn't cost you anything except maybe $10 for extra tiles. I loved going to APBC. Re your colours, imho, the frappe and pumice combo looks the goods. Your splashback is very beautiful and the darker benchtop might compete too much with it. I have New Sable Luxe and love it, but I also have a plain splashback so the bench is the feature. In any event, stay away from Peruvian Clay - pink pink pink !!! wildorchid Love the laundry colours Stipple Seal can look a bit grey though, but should pick up your brown tones. wildorchid ensuite, unsure to go marble or essa. do you think the 2pac colour goes with the dark tile? http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww240/VLH19/house/DSCN0470.jpg back up... which stone colour with oyster linea? http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww240/VLH19/house/DSCN0472.jpg http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww240/VLH19/house/DSCN0474.jpg Not sure about that diamondgloss colour - is it peruvian clay again ? If it is its going to be pink. How about the Pumice ? If you haven't got a plain backup then oyster linea will work too. The marble is beautiful, although essa is easier to care for as it requires no maintenance. I like the panna cotta combination with the oyster linea or pumice wildorchid ensuite tiles http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww240/VLH19/house/DSCN0469.jpg happy to pay extra for above standard dark tile as we are having these up pillars, but if above standard light tile for rest of walls is too much $, we can go back up standard tile http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww240/VLH19/house/DSCN0475.jpg which is the same as laundry tile which we are also using in main bath room. thanks for looking and any feedback about anything! Gorgeous tiles Good luck with the bill..... Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 11Mar 26, 2011 7:20 pm after reading more on here, i think ive changed my mind again!!! im kinda off oyster linea, i really like mushroom linea (is it sorrento that used this) at first i thought it was a bit pink toned, but maybe its not Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 12Mar 26, 2011 7:36 pm evelyn, i was thinking of your house (not sorrento, i havent been through that thread yet) i love the mushroom with the sable luxe. what cupboard colour have you got in the back of your kitchen? Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 13Mar 26, 2011 7:41 pm Great plan! Colour selection absolutely did my head in, I had plenty of time to pick and change my mind though. Your selections are doing my head in haha too much to choose from Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 14Mar 26, 2011 8:56 pm wildorchid evelyn, i was thinking of your house (not sorrento, i havent been through that thread yet) i love the mushroom with the sable luxe. what cupboard colour have you got in the back of your kitchen? In both bathrooms, we have Mushroom Linea with Sable Luxe benches. It looks really good together. In the kitchen, we have Sable Luxe with the island bench in Liquorice Linea, and the main cupboards in Formica Doeskin. Doeskin is a perfect neutral, no pink, no grey, no green tones. Not sure if you can get it in a gloss finish though. Re: Building a modified wild orchid with dechellis - SA 15Mar 27, 2011 10:38 am Hi wildorchid - welcome to H1 and the daunting task of building a new home!! We were lucky we loved the colours in the display home and just tweaked things a little bit. The lady at Laminex did our heads in with everything she showed us way over the top and when we went to do the kitchen selection we found out it was going to cost $$$$'000 so we stuck with what we originally fell in love with at the display home. There are 2 wild orchids being built in the estate nearby and another McLaren so it's interesting watching them all come together. If you loved the kitchen in the display when you first saw it then don't doubt yourself! At least you can have a look at some of the other Dechellis threads on here which will help (or not!). Good luck with all your choices and look forward to following your thread!! We have just finsihed building with Dechellis. We started out with the Wild Orchid design and then completely changed things around! Have a look at my thread as I have the french nougat benchtops in the kitchen with dark licorice linea cupboards. We have alot of natural light in our back area and it certainly isnt too dark. Are you getting pot draws or cupbaords down the bottom of your kitchen? Highly recommend po draws at around 800mm wide. We have the chocolate tiles on the bathroom floors and lighter wall tiles. We have the bath which sits off of the wall abit like the photo you have posted and I dont recall them charging anything extra for that. I like your pantry running along the back of your kitchen! We have something similar but it opens up onto the hallwayy. Anyway, I agree that the whole selection process can be quite daunting but it looks great once it is all in. Have a look at our design and our colours and i think it may help you as it is quite similar! ------------------------------------------------------ Handover: 14 December 2010 Current: Putting in plants! The pot drawers are $106 each and when I spoke to John last week he confirmed that they are 800mm wide. We are also having provision for a microwave with a pot drawer underneath for $217 so it all seems pretty reasonable. If you make any changes, ask them to send you a drawing of the layout otherwise you won't see anything and you won't see that until shortly before it is made and installed. Good luck!
