Yeah our girls are a bit older - the only reason why I am thinking tiles is because I have a lot of timber funiture and I think a good unpolished porcelain tile in a beigey/stoney colour would look good with the wood. I am going to go to myaree ceramics (I'm in love with that store) and get some ideas....then I'll go to carpet call and check that out.... I might ring kresta to get them round. yeah I like romans, I need to touch and see the fabric before I buy, otherwise I would go online. Yes I def need to see things in person (sometimes a few times) before I buy... I have even been looking at display homes to get an idea of the things I like Aah yes I can see why ur thinking tiles then... too much wood can look over the top if its not done right, i think the key is not to match all the wood as its too over powering and if you dont get the match exact it look funny... so if you are going to do wood floors i would make sure they are really different to your current wood furniture. Found a few pics that look good with different woods http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 66&bih=677 http://www.aboutdesigninterior.com/cont ... od-floors/ http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 66&bih=677 http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 66&bih=677 http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl= ... 66&bih=677 if you just google wood furniture with wood flooring pics, heaps come up Building The Oceanic with Nautilus Upgrades by Dale Alcock Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45433&p=687574#p687574 KEYS! 28.9.11 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have walls!) 143May 27, 2011 5:19 pm wow! I think the peices are around the harvey norman price tag. The shop is amazing. I used to walk past it on the way to uni and wonder if I would ever have enough money to buy any of it!!! The carpenter is an artist - so I spose it's am investment. Well... that's how I word it with DH. Am super happy our house is actually looking like a house and Im really in love with our alfresco... the space is much bigger then I originally thought which is awesome!! Roof frame is finished with gutters and electrical pre wire so hopefully colourbond on this week weather permitting Meeting our electrical guy on Saturday to finalise our lighting. Am now thinking I will put curtains in our dining and theatre sliding doors instead of roller blinds, more cost but I think it will look alot nicer and keep us warmer in winter... brrr its cold!! I am thinking about romans throughout the house and curtains on the sliding doors too. The Luxxe on summithomes.com.au, has nice ones... Also there are those new curtiains that have a vertical blind element to them so when they are open they sit really flat/neat. I think I saw them on kresta..... I would really love to include this idea of hanging some curtains from the ceiling... not quite sure where though.... I thought either in the bedroom doorway from master to ensuite or in the living so it could be closed off should we so wish, probably wouldnt close it off it would be more for the effect. I am now wanting curtains in the dining though so it would prob be too overpowering. Maybe this will have to wait for the next build too!! *sigh* Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building The Oceanic with Nautilus Upgrades by Dale Alcock Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45433&p=687574#p687574 KEYS! 28.9.11 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have walls!) 153Jun 21, 2011 8:02 pm Looking great ETB my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have walls!) 154Jun 22, 2011 5:31 pm Hey ETB - love the curtain look. Wooden venetians to romans to rollers to curtains. We are extremely happy with our final decision to go with curtains in the living areas & master bedroom. There is definitely a noticeable difference in temperature between the back of the house with curtains and the front of the house with roller blinds. All 3 front bedrooms have rollers; DD is in Bed 2 near the front door, so her window/room is protected more by the porch. Her room is a lot warmer than Bed 3 & 4 which are completely exposed to the elements. In summer time, her room was the coolest in the house, even though we are west facing and the front of the house cops the brunt of the arvo sun. The company we used are in Bibra Lake (just up from Stock Road Markets, if you know where that is). The lady there is absolutely brilliant. We spent a few hours going over options and colours, and she didn't try to flog off the expensive stuff, she gave her honest opinion of what was *best*, not the dearest. Our curtains are on double tracks; the back, blockout curtain is lining (which comes in several colours) with sheers over the top (the black/white/silver/grey stripe pattern.. will upload a pic if you want to see it again). They have lots of different sheers, and the pattern we have come in several colours. The back of the house has the black sheer with white/beige lining and then we have the black lining in the bedroom (which brings out the silvery/white/grey tones of the sheer). Handover 8 September 2010 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have a Roof!) 158Jun 27, 2011 1:02 am Does Pelmet actually make any difference and how much further we need to extend past the opening to make the heat and light block out effective? Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have a Roof!) 159Jun 27, 2011 7:32 pm Pelmets over what? Blind or curtain? We don't have any pelmets on any of the windows. Our curtains sit probably about 10-15cm above and across the window frames. They do a good job of blocking out most of the light. The venetians we have in the bathrooms sit inside the frames and are a snug fit, they also do a good job at cutting out quite a bit of light (as much as a venetian can do, anyway). Handover 8 September 2010 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH (We have a Roof!) 160Jun 28, 2011 1:52 am We didn't have pelmet on our blockout curtins and it didn't really help with the heat reduction in the room which is at the front where it gets sun through out the day and has not eves on two sides out of three sides. That's why wondered if it is a longer coverage past the frame opening. Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
