Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 17, 2011 9:38 pm Finally I have started my build thread!! Not for lack of you all asking of course! This is our first build and we are a tad excited about it to say the least... however I have heard that the building process will knock that out of us quick smart!! We have done the reno thing so have decided to try the building experience. We are building with Dale Alcock Homes - The Oceanic with Nautilus Display Upgrades South of Perth in a new Estate (my dream!!) The Block is 550sqm opposite a park, close to the freeway, transport, not far from the beach and soon to be HUGE shopping complex so Im in heaven. Most importantly we will be apart of a new community with new schools for our precious little one. We choose DAH firstly because they had our fav house plan and second for their reputation and quality. Our sale guy has been amazingly helpful and has even helped us put a much wanted pool into our plans, liaising with the pool company. Our prestart consultant wasn't the best but the showroom more than made up for her lack of enthusiasm!! I could spend hours in that showroom.... and I did!! We signed with DA 18th Oct 2010 and hope to have handover by Oct/Nov this year to then be able to complete the finishes. I will gather all our colour choices and plans and upload them ASAP but for now here is the builders link http://www.dalealcock.com.au/New-Homes/ ... ilus/Build Building The Oceanic with Nautilus Upgrades by Dale Alcock Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45433&p=687574#p687574 KEYS! 28.9.11 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 2Mar 17, 2011 9:54 pm Hello, Here's hoping you have a smooth build And looking forward to reading about your adventures with your build. A couple of tips 1. Cervantes brick. Have you seen this colour fully bricked or just samples? we were going to go for that but we changed our mind when we saw a full wall in cervantes. We went with Collie. you can see how collie looks in our thread. 2. Crosby Tiles. Our builder had crosby Tiles as the tile supplier of choice. after looking at their tiles, we chose our tiling but nothing excited us (especially after seeing amazing tiles through various displays we had visited). Driving back we saw Myaree Ceramics and decided to stop and have a look. We were blown away. It definately pays to look at the higher end tile shops. -European Ceramics. -Myaree Ceramics We were charged $200 fee to choose from myaree ceramics. We upgraded: - kitchen splashback to ceiling and to 600x300 Rectified Porcelain. - Ensuite/Laundry/WC/bathroom to rectified porcelains (600x300 for wall and 300x300 for floors). All up a $2500 charge. Worth every penny for difference its going to make. Just my 2 cents. Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 7Mar 18, 2011 4:47 pm hey wrexter - don't bash my Cervantes ... is a pretty good neutral brick... if you want the brick to be a feature then going with a more colourful brick is ok but for a neutral clean line brick Cervantes is ideal... Was just darker than what were were looking for, and we only realised when looking at a full wall. Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 9Mar 18, 2011 4:54 pm Hi Wrexter, They are amazing prices!!! We got extreme prices quoted to change the tiles unfortunately even just to change our border tile we would have lost our whole tile allowance!! We were able to choose from European ceramics aswell but nothing grabbed us and we are running out of money as we want to install nicer tiles in the rest of the house Thanks for the tip on the brick colour... We had previously chosen another colour then changed our mind to cervantes but I'll def check out your thread! We are also building with DAH. We are due to have slab down in next 3 weeks, awaiting phone call with confirmed date. Would be good to keep in touch. Who was your sales person? I had a great pre-start person who has been very helpful. Are you having all the Intelligent Homes electrics - smart wiring? Cannot wait to start seeing progress. Look forward to following your thread? Pops xxx Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 14Mar 18, 2011 6:59 pm Nice plan. Very logical. Love the extended alfresco around the pool. For some reason reminds me of the high school pool I use to go to with the shade area near the pool. Who's the poor sole in Bed2? Have to decide which door to go out off and in to . We have collie bricks but I think they changed the mixed a little and the white is not as defined in the bricks anymore. Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 15Mar 18, 2011 7:45 pm Popsical, that's great we are about the same way along and can follow each other builds!! We have David as our Sales Consultant and he has been more than fantastic wow same pool as well!? I love that pool And can not wait for our first summer of swimming! Did you guys get heating for it aswell? We figured we might aswell, that way we can use it all year long. We decided against smart wiring as the technology is still catching up and full installion of all the cables is still awhile off and we plan to build again within 3-5 years... Also budget is running tight and smart wiring didn't make the cut! Haha Duke... Bed 2 is the babies room... Hence we added the extra door for easy access from the master Building The Oceanic with Nautilus Upgrades by Dale Alcock Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45433&p=687574#p687574 KEYS! 28.9.11 Re: Excited to Build: Building with DAH 16Mar 18, 2011 8:22 pm You can confuse the baby by going out one door ands coming in the other.
