Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 16, 2011 9:44 pm I am hoping somebody might be able to help me. I am just about to put a small deck into the rear of my property. Part of the deck is undercover and somewhat out of the elements, the other is in the direct firing line all day everyday. I am looking for the best timber to use on the deck. I have been told Kwila is a very versatile timber, but the landscaping company are suggesting to use Spotted Gum. I have been told Gum requires more maintenance and can buckle a reasonable amount, where as Kwila is very hard wearing. If anyone has suggestions or information, I would greatly appreciate it. Re: Decking Material - Far North Queensland Cairns 2Jul 27, 2011 5:25 pm I have used Kwila in Cairns. It aged well. You need to keep the oil or whatever finish up to it every year if you want it to last. You will also get a variation of colour due to some being outside and some undercover. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10971 1 10482 Building Standards; Getting It Right!
