Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 16, 2011 8:14 am Hi everyone, I have settled last Thursday but then I figured out the master keys for me can't open the doors. I contacted my admin last Friday mornning, and she got the site supervisor called me and I was told Lock Smith would fixed it at last saturday. However, the people from locksmith didn't show up during the long weekend. Then I contacted my admin again yesterday and was notified by email yesterday that I would hear from the locksmith yesterday. Again I didn't hear anything from locksmith. Now as I know the supervisor's keys can open the doors but mine can't. Well, the remote control for the garage is working for me. It really annoyed me that I can't open the doors while I have paid all the money and settled. Anyone could give me any idear? Who could I contact to solve this problem if my admin and supervisor keep kicking the ball? Re: settled but the keys can't work 2Mar 16, 2011 8:46 am We had a slightly similar problem. We couldn't get one of our garage doors open, thankfully the other one had a remote. We couldn't get in the front door, and struggled to get in the access door. Our issue wasn't with the keys, but was because all the new locks were stiff. We did manage to get in eventually. Maybe you could go into the builders head office, and stay there until they get the issue fixed. If people are going there to sign contracts, and can see the issues you've had, it could deter them. This could give admin and SS an incentive to get your issue fixed quicker. Is there any other way could solve this, such as write letter to some institutions? Are you willing to live outside and wait for a reply? I can't see that they have too much incentive at the moment to get your locks working. They've been paid, it's not affecting them if you can't get into your house. I think it's time to make your presence felt, and let them know that you're not going to go away until you can get into your house. Rock up at their office with a sleeping bag, then they'll know you're not going anywhere soon. Could you organise your own locksmith and get it billed to the builder? contract signed: Nov 09 Released to Construction: 23 Jul 10 Slab poured: 9 Aug 10 Frame completed: 30 Aug 10 Windows & Gutters: 7 Sep 10 Bricks: 15 - 23 Sep 10 Roof: 24 Sep 10 Gyprock: 20 Oct 10 Lockup: 25 Oct 10 Kitchen: 27 Oct 10 Tiling: 6 - 9 Nov 10 Painting: 17 Nov 10 Carpet: 30 Nov 10 PCI: 15 Dec 10 Handover: 17 Dec 10 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35943 Re: settled but the keys can't work 7Mar 16, 2011 12:35 pm I wouldn't be taking that! If the keys didn't work on the day of settlement I'd be on the phone / in their office until it was sorted out. Bugger that! Can you contact their lock smith directly? Find out where he is? If he is anymore than a couple of hours away, I'd be telling the builder you will get your own locksmith out and be sending them the bill. Plus an invoice for your time. Give them a deadline, tell them you want a locksmith to fix it within a day (or 48 hours or whatever), and if they fail to do so you will be arranging your own locksmith and forwarding them the invoice for payment. That's absolutely ridiculous that your keys don't work yet they don't seem to care. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=37229 - our Iris 4!
