Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 24, 2007 7:28 am Hi folks,
Does anyone know how the builder might be able to rectify the mis-aligned bricks above the window shown in the attached picture? I've informed the builder but I'm just wondering whether it looks expensive to fix (and they might attempt to wiggle out of it)? You may want to look at a recent similar post https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... highlight=. It looks like builders are putting in "stress relief points" along windows to camouflage them. Do we have any bricklayers out there that can tell us the right amount of articulation/expansion joints that are required and the "right" place to put them? They need to fix it. I cant lay my hands on it right now, but on the fair trading site there is a doc showing how far out of plumb etc bricks can be. Re: Misaligned bricks 5Dec 24, 2007 9:26 am http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/re ... IDE_07.pdf

The good news is the site supervisor is not very impressed with the job. He said there's a few other spots that need fixing up as well. Something to do with not enough seals in certain areas. So the brickwork will be fixed and I hope promptly. The eaves are being lined and the roof tiles are now mortared into place so the brickwork is really the outstanding item for the externals.
