Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 14, 2011 3:47 pm Hi everyone, I have more or less chose the colors for my front elevation but the more I think about it the more I feel I wanted to change my feature wall color. Link here shows a similar elevation of my house (http://www.impressions.net.au/index.php ... ealty=user). My rooftop is harmony tiles and I have chosen Flint and the render will be in Dune. Garage door and front door will be in paperbark. For the feature wall, I was advised to keep it Dune but at higher intensity, so will be a darker Dune. My original plan is to have it in Russet Red or Manor Red. But was told that there are already too many color tones for my elevation but my concern is if I keep to the darker Dune, then my whole front elevation will appear dark with the render and roof and the feature wall won't be outstanding. So what do you guys think? Should I choose a bright color or keep it to a darker Dune for the feature wall or have it painted Paperbark? Re: About my feature wall color 2Mar 15, 2011 9:52 am Hi axio, I personally don't think Dune and Paperbark go well together. What about having the render in Paperbark to balance out the garage door and then do your front door in the russet red colour you liked?? A bold front door can look very Good luck! Re: About my feature wall color 3Mar 15, 2011 9:59 am Hi axio, I agree with Mimi re the Dune and Paperbark, as a basic rule, use 3 colours total Re: About my feature wall color 4Mar 15, 2011 12:28 pm Hey mimi and dee, thanks. So the suggestions is to have paperbark for the render and garage door and russet red for the main door and the feature wall? Anyone of you know where i can find any visualization tool to see how the end result will look like? Re: About my feature wall color 5Mar 15, 2011 3:37 pm Hi Axio axio99 So the suggestions is to have paperbark for the render and garage door and russet red for the main door and the feature wall? No not really, It's hard to tell without seeing all the elements together. Is this the house? If you have the garage door and feature wall the same colour the house will look more balanced. The problem with Dune is that it is a pinkish colour, so it doesn't really go with Paperbark, hard to tell on the sample above. You could choose a colour like Windspray which looks like a lighter version of your tiles, again it's hard to tell with the computer colour variations but you get the idea. This would mean that your exterior would be down to 2 colours, you could add some brightly coloured pots and the red front door to spice it up, or you could keep it all neutral depending on your taste. What colour are your gutters and facia? axio99 Anyone of you know where i can find any visualization tool to see how the end result will look like? Try this one http://www.studiom.com.au/envisage Re: About my feature wall color 6Mar 15, 2011 4:53 pm hey Dee, That's right, the house elevation is similar except mine is a double wide door. You got the right roof tiles and the 2 colors that I chose right now. I was also a bit unconvinced with having paperbark as render the frontage will look very bland. My gutter and fascia is also Dune, i was keeping it the same as the render but I can change that based on my revised color. With Windspray as the render, do you think the house will look too dark? Looks like there are more and more to consider. As changing one color will meant having to see if they work well with the other selections. Thanks for the link, will work on that tonight and see how the end results look like. Re: About my feature wall color 7Mar 15, 2011 10:12 pm its hard to pick render colours as the colours can look alot lighter outside, would be quite grey if you had winspray as the render and dune for the trim. Hopefully you will get some ideas from the link Re: About my feature wall color 8Mar 16, 2011 1:30 am Oh, I thought it was a brick facade! Do you prefer Dune or Paperbark? Do you want a light facade or a darker facade? Do you want your garage door to blend in or stand out? Can you have a timber look garage? Dune as render is a beige grey, Paperbark is very similar to the render in your picture and Windspray is a blue grey, which personally I think is too blue. You could have; gutters - Monument, fascia - Dune or Paperbark, (to match render) render - Dune or Paperbark, garage door - Timber look front doors - Stained (to match garage) feature render - russet red OR gutters - Woodland Grey, fascia - Shale Grey render - Dulux Timeless Grey garage door -Shale Grey front door - russet red feature render - Shale grey Have a look at shellb78 thread, pg. 6. She has used Shale grey garage and Timeless Grey render. OR gutters - Woodland Grey fascia - Dune render - Dune garage door - Woodland Grey front door - russet red feature render - Dulux Malay Grey OR gutters - Paperbark fascia - Surfmist render - Paperbark garage door - Surfmist front door - Timber stained feature render - Surfmist Have a look at Nightshade thread, pg. 14. She has Paperbark render to her front facade. Basically I think if you match your feature render and garage door to balance each other, pretty much anything will work. You could then have either the russet red front doors or stained timber doors. Generally, I would also match my gutters to my roof and fascia either to the roof or the main render colour. Just keep it to a maximum of three colours. regards, mimi Re: About my feature wall color 9Mar 16, 2011 9:52 am nice combos mimi, should of got you to check my exterior choices Re: About my feature wall color 11Mar 16, 2011 6:21 pm Thanks guys! Did you notice the time it was posted!! axio, I hope it helps a bit, but it really comes down to personal preference. Your home should represent you and your personality.
