Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building our 2nd house :) - On the home stretch :) 281Nov 15, 2011 12:50 pm Painters are painting today ... sandbank front doors and same for the garage door. ITs gonna be funny getting the keys... there will be so many keys for locks then a garage door remote a air con remote ... gonna have to find a remote holder i think. Write what they are for on them... They change the locks the day you move in and put the fly screens on same day to save anyone stealing them. Gas bottle needs to be connected but thats a quick job i think haha and plug the oven in ... I cant believe that when the plumber connected the oven to the gas he didnt obviously plug the oven in to the power point... Must be the heat going to their brains LOL Ha ha ha remote bag that would be funny ... i am sure there is somthing out there to hold remotes for the house. God soon we wont need keys they have push start cars number locks for houses ... Next it will be like shopping soon just swipe your card on ur way out. Re: Building our 2nd house :) - On the home stretch :) 285Nov 15, 2011 6:17 pm Think we may have to get the tilers back in as the main area in the dining and near the island bench is not very straight... when walking on it with no shoes on its got bumps all over it. Was the last bit of tiling they did so they probably couldnt be bothered doing a good job. Has to get someone out to fill in some dirt apparently for the septic. Splashback is done and one of the builders workers will be back tomorrow to put the cupboard doors back on and do a few little jobs. Cleaners will have to come back for a quick clean... not sure if we will get the keys friday or not. See how he goes. Painters need to do a few touch ups but not bad. Need to paint the step into garage and do a bit of cleaning of the front doors as they have paint on the glass. The builder laughed as i told him the plumber didnt plug the oven in when he pushed the oven in. They are hopeless. SO might be monday we get the keys see how we go. Re: Building our 2nd house :) - On the home stretch :) 289Nov 17, 2011 7:23 pm Thanks tamara i love it... something different. Well the tilers havent been back but rangehood is up apparently. Think one of the builders went to plug the oven in but apparently there is no cord to plug in... !!!! Plumber hasnt been to connect the gas bottle yet. I dont think we will be in by xmas at this stage ..... My mother will be in her house before us i think lol Contract signed - March 7,2011 Site Cut - May 6, 2011 Pre slab plumbing - 19th May, 2011 Slab - 10th June, 2011 Our thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45044 Re: Building our 2nd house :) - On the home stretch :) 290Nov 19, 2011 2:59 pm WE are not in yet, but getting closer. Plumber needs to come back and they have to do something with the septic and move some dirt around hubby didnt explain it to me that well. They have put a magnetic door thing on the door from the family area to the hallway where the bedrooms are which will help stop the door from slamming all the time. rangehood is up. Just been looking for some blue sugar, coffee and tea canisters to go with the splashback in the kitchen but are finding it hard to find any in the colour i want. Been a few hectic weeks that last few but i will be glad once we get the keys and can get sorted out. Loving the splashback glad i didnt change my mind in the end. Cant wait for tomorrow bring it on. Oh lucky the plumber was there today as hubby found a small leak so he will be there in the morning to fix that. Hopefully no more leaks... damn earthmovers . Rubbish was cleaned up and loo gone. They are going to leave the big bin there till we get ours as we cant order any till we have CVO then they say 5 working days to be delivered arrrrgh imagine a weeks worth of dirty nappies ha ha ha ha . Probably worse than the chicken farm down the road. Next time you get a post from me hopefully we will have moved in or in the process.
