Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 22, 2007 8:43 pm Hi,
We're due to meet with the builders and look at colour options at the end of January. I'm a bit worried as I've got no idea what I'm looking for and am thinking there's a big chance myhusband I and won't agree on anything! I'm just try to do some research in the meantime... are there any tools/websites where there's a blank house and you can pick the colours for the walls/roof/windows etc? Cheers, Anthea Re: any online tools for helping with colour options? 2Dec 22, 2007 9:19 pm Anthea, i do not know of any website that has everything in it re: colour selections....my suggestion would be to visit as many display homes as you can.
Find out what you both like and get the information for them... Some builders have colour selection showrooms which you can visit at any time to collect samples of laminates, paint, tiles, carpets and put them together and see what works etc. I know that most places will be closed for another week or two, but spend a few days checking out different places. You need to see, touch and experience the colours, textures etc.....i don't really know if looking at a PC is going to make you 100% sure of your selections anyway..... Don't forget, your builder should have a qualified colour consultant at your appointment to help walk you both through the selection process. But if you already know what you want, that makes the appointment a lot easier.... Good Luck. Re: any online tools for helping with colour options? 3Dec 23, 2007 6:32 am Anthea….if you go to a Dulux Trade Centre, they SHOULH have a computer there where you can play for ages, selecting internal and external colours on photos up on the screen!
Its good fun!! Also go to the website, there maybe something similar on it. You can also purchase a CD from Dulux which abeles you to do exactly what you are asking, Its called “MY COLOUR” I had one, but I need an updated version, this is fun also! http://www.dulux.com.au/html/home/index.aspx Also have a look through my Forum……and The Finishing Touches forum, I have posted up lots of information about understanding colour. Do your homework, you still have plenty of time. Buy some Home magazines, see what other people have done colour wise, it may help you with your own colour selections! While all the above info is for paint colours only…..start there first! Once you have chosen paint colours you really like, then progress on to the kitchen and other selections. Externally……choose your brick first! Then move onto to colours that complement the chosen bricks with your roofing and windows. Its not that hard, you just need to concentrate on ONE element at a time, then move to the next one. Let me know if you have any problems! We took photos of houses that we liked, asked for samples from fabric shops and pasted colour swatches into the book. Take the book along to your selections appointments so the designer can see what you like. It worked a treat and gave us something to do while we waited for all the documents to be finalized.
