Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 23, 2007 8:38 pm Hey Davinci, i was thinking since you do internal landscaping, can you give us some ideas or insights into what customers have requested in the past to landscape their houses internally????
I can picture internal uplit, stacked stone walls with water cascading over the stone and into pebbles at the bottom....would love it but obviously needs to be integrated into the building of the house doesn't it???? Can that sort of effect be done afterwards???? Re: Internal landscaping 2Dec 23, 2007 8:46 pm P…..not unless you want the tradies ripping everything back up!!!
It would cost way more to do later, that sort of thing is better done while building. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Internal landscaping 3Dec 23, 2007 9:15 pm Hubby is rolling his eyes while i type this.....
but i would love it.....if i can't do it inside, then i know my alfresco will have a feature stackstone wall in ochre colourings, uplit with feature lighting from the sides. My ebay purchase of this huge urn/pot in front of it with a dual function cascade waterfall which can either trickle down the stackstone or a fibreoptic cascade into the urn..... Or i was thinking to put a bubbler into the urn and have it trickle over the edges of that perhaps..... This is my ebay bargain: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/0150e085.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/6a6e0659.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee299/matthewnathan/1bbbf6b2.jpg Sounds stupid maybe, but that's my idea, then on another wall will be a open fireplace with stackstone surround... One day soon, but have to get the house first!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Re: Internal landscaping 5Dec 23, 2007 9:30 pm kiwi056 One of my concerns would be the long term look of the stacked stone, with water cascading over it. Have you seen one that has been in operation for a few years? To be honest i haven't, but it's not like a tiled surface that requires re-grouting. I would say it would only need the stone cleaned occasionally with a broom/brush to remove any scale etc that might build up... Davinci isn't online at the moment, it might be something that he can answer.... Re: Internal landscaping 6Dec 24, 2007 6:15 am This pot would look great sitting on a bed of white pebbles in your entry, slowly trickling water down the sides with a light in the bottom.
Under the white pebbles you would have a drainage system. This cane be done at a fairly reasonable price, if you sort in now. Off topic for a second….. found this on the net, I’ve got the book that has this picture in it. This is one of the nicest and cleanest court yard landscaping I have seen! It’s functional and practical. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Anyway…. I think it’s been done to death by now. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Internal landscaping 8Dec 24, 2007 8:33 am Unfortunately our entry is not big enough to pull off an urn/pot in it. So we'll wait and see... not looking good for the water feature either.....hubby keeps rolling his eyes.... (Well at least i got my refridgerated air con - so can't really complain ). Will keep trying though....
I can keep looking around for a backdrop for my ur outside in the alfresco though. I don't want render/ also thought about sandstone tiles, but can't be bothered with the mould/algae that will eventually come up, and the constant cleaning and occasional re-grounting that will be required. Have to look at some other options... I like your first pic Michelle, looks very much like Patio's style (Jamie Durie). Re: Internal landscaping 9Dec 24, 2007 10:15 am That’s my type of courtyard!!!!
No fuss, and looks great! This courts yard is on a high rise units veranda….. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Internal landscaping 11Dec 24, 2007 10:25 am shocker!
I put this one in so P could see how they work. Already have stuff ready to go....just damn well need a house to install them into....that's all...... Re: Internal landscaping 14Dec 25, 2007 10:52 am mainly water features with natural stone, random pebble walls and interior front entrances

My feeling is that it would cost a bit to get done later - but nothing is impossible if you have the money. Better tell Hubby to roll his wallet out instead of rolling his eyes! Cheers Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5412 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7944 3 10214 |
