Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Effects of Rain on our Timber Frame 3Dec 22, 2007 8:32 am Hi Phoenix,
l checked out your blog and noticed you are building with the same company as we are. Apparently their procedure for double story homes is finish the wrap, brick the bottom level, errect the scaffolding, then brick the upper level and finally after all the bricking is complete, put the roof tiles on. Does anyone else have any experience with the effect of rain on their frames??? Please help. Kind regards, Leonda Re: Effects of Rain on our Timber Frame 4Dec 22, 2007 11:37 am I don’t believe a few weeks of changeable weather will have too much effect on the frame. I’d be more concerned about the frame drying properly before the walls are straightened and any plaster is fixed. This is where you could end up getting some movement if there is still moisture in the timber.

As long as the frame is dried out before plastering its OK. The roof is the last thing to go after the bricks etc. Re: Effects of Rain on our Timber Frame 6Dec 22, 2007 7:31 pm We have just had our frame put up, and the tiles put on just before it rained .. though the water can still get in because the tiles havent been properly finished .so will still get abit of water but not as much if i didnt have em.. phew Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated.
