Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 09, 2018 9:58 am Builder has given me a quote for appliances and I can get them cheaper at Harvey Norman. When I mentioned this and asked whether I can install after handover or supply and they install only, they mentioned they need to use both their suppliers and installers otherwise I won’t be able to get an occupancy permit. I don’t think this is right but can’t find anything to send to them to back myself up. Anyone have a link I can send to them or what is the process? I'm building in Vic and am supplying my own cooktop, oven and dishwasher after handover. Builder's plumber and sparky is only providing the provision for these items (e.g. power point, water point etc.) and is giving me a credit for the appliances which come standard with the house. Potentially, the builder is saying to you that they will only install equipment supplied by their suppliers (vs. Harvey Norman) for their own warranty purposes. The builder's prices will be higher due to the builders margin which is added on top of the RRP for the items.
