Seeing the Waldorf in progress makes me really excited for mine to start. Haven't got any q's yet but be sure i will track you down for your advice! lol... We initially fell in love with one of the newer style very dark brown bricks, but when we found out it was a Catergory 15,000! LOL we decided to compromise and get the next best that didn't break the bank. We are very happy with them! Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 23Apr 09, 2011 1:19 pm Hi fellow Waldorfians,
Took a couple of pics for you this morning... Shows the first coat of render and the balcony complete. Apparently the final coat of render gets done just before handover so that it doesn't get damaged. The garage is being bricked - will be so nice to see it complete. And the kitchen is going in as we speak! Woohoo!!! So in love with our kitchen and vanities! Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 24Apr 09, 2011 1:39 pm Hi Snoofie, All I can say is wow, wow, wow!! It's coming along beautifully, you must be so pleased! Thanks so much for sharing your pictures, it's so exciting to see a Waldorf that isn't the display home. Can I ask what colour you chose for your render?? mimi Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 26Apr 09, 2011 3:31 pm looking great Snoofie! and agree with Mimi, it is good to see a Waldorf "in the flesh" so to speak . I love the look of the render over the study. We toyed with the idea but were in two minds, so we just left it as just the portico to be rendered. if we change our minds down the track after handover we can always do it. The homestead tan brick looks darker than on the display i looked at. I really like it... Mimi! you've been quiet! how's things travelling on your end? Building Waldorf 44 with PD Feel free to follow our build progress - http://melnrobsknockdownrebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 27Apr 09, 2011 4:18 pm Thanks Mimi and MelNRob We are also thinking of adding a small open pergola in front of the study - similar to that which is on the display. We can do that after we are in though. We love the fact that the front facade has numerous levels to it - not all in a straight line. It gives it more interest. To finish the look we have chosen the timberlook panel lift door for the garage (be buggered if we were going to stain the garage door in five years!), we will be decking the front portico and running it past the front of the study. The front door is also stained. In time we may get the portico and balcony ceilings lined with timber also, but that may change. The driveway we have decided on exposed aggregate. I have popped in and read posts on H1 for about a year now and thought it was about time I joined in. I thought it would be nice to share our progress as perhaps we were one of the first to start building the Waldorf. We chose it back in Feb/Mar last year when the display first opened. The council took 4 mths to approve the plans which dragged everything back. Happy to share Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 28Apr 09, 2011 4:42 pm Here are a couple more pics :

Wow your brick selections, love & that grand staircase. Love it. Good luck with the remainder of your build Mel Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 30Apr 10, 2011 7:24 pm snoofie JPZ Have you considered a video intercom system? We'll be getting a wireless one after handover but haven't done the research into it yet. Anyone have any ideas? Hey there JPZ We are getting ours from JayCar Electronics - they have a colour wireless intercom. Just have to look into if you can get multiple units - one for upstairs and one for down. Hey Snoofie, Love your pics. They are awesome!!! Wow, can't wait for my house to be finished... We've got the same stairs! =) Which colour wireless intercom did you get and how much was it? Sounds good. Might have to pay them a visit... Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 31Apr 10, 2011 8:15 pm mel_mox Hi, I'm not building the waldorf but with pd! From memory it was surprisingly good value... maybe they have a website? I'll go and have a look... Woohoo! Same stairs!!! I SO adore the stairs!!! Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 33Apr 12, 2011 1:55 pm hey waldorfers! just an update for those that are interested, we had site scrape yesterday were told by our SS who popped by this morning that the pegging was done ! So hopefully there'll be a bit more done on the block when i go by after work. We were told to expect the slab to be done by the 25th (weather permitting) and framework to start on the 28th. Yay! Can anyone advise how long it usually takes for the slab to be completed? I love your sunny study and your staircase is gorgeous! I could just imagine your DD floating down those gorgeous stairs on her way to the school formal........ It's great they're going to fix your mortar issues, but it does make you wonder what the brickies were (or weren't!) thinking? "It's a different colour but, duh we'll just keep going"...... Just wondering what your internal paint colour will be? mimi Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12345 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110587 |
