yes, a roller door will do the job, but we prefer the double hinge door to back - just for the look
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1423Jan 29, 2014 1:42 pm tstr1a I extended the garage by 1m and PD charged me $650 in install a roller door. Best thing I did as access to the back & side of the house is easy. I can even drive a car thru the roller door and wash it at the back (my block is 23m wide). That's a good width size though It opens up for more options that can be done for upgrades for sure Blog @ The Desire Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1424Jan 29, 2014 3:15 pm Did anyone go with any of the following upgrades for the Waldorf? And yes also $600 for R2.5 batts for full house wall insulation sounds cheap, typo maybe? should it be $6000? PD needs to provide you with a 6 star rated house (based on a standard house plan), the additional $600 (for the entire house) was to upgrade from R2 to R2.5 wall insulation due to structure changes on my behalf which affect the energy rating. I also upgraded ceiling insulation to R4 (wasn't a requirement as they provided R3.5 as standard, which meet the rating requirements) which cost approx. $900. The price difference from jumping up to the next R-value is very minimal, $6k sounds excessive. You wouldn't even use $6k of insulation (walls & ceiling) on the house, let alone an upgrade. Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1429Jan 29, 2014 3:57 pm Interesting, I was quoted $1019 for R3.5 Batts just for the roof (Waldorf46) Maybe it will all become clearer tomorrow at the tender Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1430Jan 29, 2014 4:09 pm Filthyfil Interesting, I was quoted $1019 for R3.5 Batts just for the roof (Waldorf46) Maybe it will all become clearer tomorrow at the tender You won't know the energy rating until contract stage. They will have a rating (external company conducts the rating) once all the structure changes and electrical are all finalised. Building can be a fun process, you just need to be all over the detail and be involved with the build to achieve the best results. Our Waldorf was built well, another friend of mine who just finished building with PD as well is in tears, she regrets going with PD. First time building for me as well. So it will be a learning experience. By the way, for Prestige homes, only roof is insulated with R2.5 Batts as standard, rest of the house has that sisalation foil wrap. Not sure how this could yield a 6 star rating as standard. Adding my question to this for 1st Floor LED downlights: Since it will happen Post handover, is it advisable to have the rough-ins for LED downlights or it can be all together managed by independent electrician? (This would also include the drillings and repaint to any ceiling surfaces after the LED installations)?
