Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1301Dec 13, 2013 4:31 pm Hi all. I have been reading this forum for sometime now and find it very helpful. We are building a Waldorf 44 with PD (knock down and rebuild) with a site start for January 2014. I am keen to have an independent building inspector providing advice at the major stages of the build. So far have conflict recommendations from other similar forums from Homeone. Some good and bad recommendations for New Home Inspections and Final Inspect. I would be grateful for any recent information on their experiences with building inspections, their reports, follow up and price. Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1303Dec 16, 2013 8:23 am Scott2233 tstr1a Scott2233 any one knows how much PD charge for rendering on Brick? thx should be no more than $45 per sqm. They also charge an additional $300 if you select more than one render colour.... I know it's a rip. Consider doing after handover if it's not a big section. Thanks Tstr1a We like the render finish of Sterling facade and want to choose Brick (instead of Hebel). Since the full render on Brick will cost too much , we might just render the facade (front part+ a bit side part) , excluding the standard facade render area PD has provided, the Sqm we need will be around 60-70 sqm, seems it is a workable option to us if it is 45$/sqm , say, another 3K might can do the job it will be cheaper to render while building as the scaffolding is already up Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1304Dec 16, 2013 9:01 pm deefeez46waldorf hi we were told they supply a independent building inspector at each stage, think the company was bss? Hi deefeez46waldorf. Thanks for your reply. Yes we were informed of this from the paperwork. However, I am not confident they could really provide an "independent" appraisal being engaged by PD themselves. I would be grateful for feedback and experience with the process. Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 1313Jan 04, 2014 1:03 am Hi there Just been told by our BC that PD changed suppliers for the Essastone and now the island bench for the kitchen will have a joint as the new supplier is unable to provide a single piece covering the length of the bench. That is, unless we upgrade the stone bench. I am very annoyed with this as we signed our Fixed Price Contract back in Sep. 2013 for a site start in Dec. 2013. PD is delayed and has now came back to us requesting a number of changes saying they changed suppliers. Has anyone had the same experience? I am starting to fell that the fixed price contract is not worth it's paper. Any suggestions? Yes, I am very sad/angry/annoyed by all this. I don't know the name of the new supplier PD hasn't informed us. The island bench is the standard rectangular format for the Waldorf 44 which is 3300mm long. Apparently according to their information to achieve a no join effect the stone will need to be upgraded. But we signed the Fixed Price Contract back in September 2013. Quick question: Does PD include the concreting of the Alfresco areas? I am building the extended floor plan that has the second alfresco all the way across. I am building the extended floor plan that has the second alfresco all the way across. Yes it's included in the $15K. The 15K also includes standard sliders from Living/Theatre room to Back alfresco area. But with the new promo you'll want to extend the height of the doors which will cost approx $300 each from memory.
