I think at the worst of times, what got us through this journey, was looking at furniture and creating moodboards. Honestly a therapy in disguise, we were renting at the time too. Hope everything speeds up for all in construction. The waldorf is a beautiful home, once you move in and get settled in, you will love it! You are so right about needing some sort of therapy to get through the journey. We visit Waldorf displays when we have the time to drive all the way there or otherwise furniture shopping too. But I must admit, I went through about a month of not even wanting to do that and preparing to sell the house. People always warn you about building and no matter how prepared you are, things will go pear shaped somewhere somehow. We all just have to manage through. The homeone forum really helps How long have you been a settled Waldorfian? How has the quality been so far? Do you find the alfresco big enough? I'm deciding whether to extend the alfresco by way of landscaping somehow- extended pergola, etc? You must have better trades up in Sydney I haven't been happy with the quality so far since everything seems to have been fixed and not done properly the first time. But I'm glad attention does go into getting it fixed. We are about 3 months away till the end but that's if there are no more delays. We will hit the contract sunset deadline in 4 months time... cutting it fine. Building Porter Davis Waldorf 44 (KDR) in Melbourne East Sales: Oct '15 Tender: Jan '16 Contract: Apr '16 PCV: ?? But can't decide on the facade. We are building with Hebel, so it is fully rendered. My wife like the long island facade. But for me as I won't be doing the classic hampton feel inside, and most probably will go something more contemporary. Wouldn't the Long island facade look out of place. I was thinking of the Sterling, still grand but can go modern inside (ps need an facade with balcony ) any suggestions will be great Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8347Jun 05, 2017 11:59 am Nishk Hi guys Hi Guys, I am new to this group. Have you visited World of Style yet? There are lots of modern interior options to choose from that would still suit. Also you never really see the outside and the inside together so there's less need for them to 'match' as such. I see lots of people going for the Scandi/Indistrial interior these days too which looks very nice. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8348Jun 05, 2017 12:49 pm Waldorf_Grange_Build Nishk Hi guys Hi Guys, I am new to this group. Which is an old suburb with big brick houses and the street has good street appeal. Was not so sure long island facade and its hampton looks outside with cladding. I recently updated our Waldorf build blog with more posts in the coming days. http://hydeparkwaldorf48.blogspot.com.au/ Hi snail, could you share how much open balustrade costs? I'd like to have balustrades, get rid of the void and the bulkhead next to void as well. Thanks Hey, sorry I missed your post. Our stair case was option 2 and included as a promo item. The balustrade extension in lieu of dwarf wall at the rumpus room was $1045 upgrade. I'm not sure if they can get rid of the void and bulkheads or not. Thanks. Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8351Jul 08, 2017 5:02 pm Hello Waldorf Lovers, We moved in to our Waldorf 6 months ago, still struggling with layouts and decor for a few things. Would love to get some ideas from those who have managed to conquer 😊 - there is no wall space for a console at entry, would love to know what people have done to decorate the area - Would love to know how people set up the cloak room that works 😊 S&G World of Style - 6/8 and 7/8 Tender Appt. - 09/09/2015 Contract Appt. - 30/09/2015 Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8352Aug 29, 2017 10:29 pm If anyone is interested, I have recently updated my build blog with a bunch of new posts. Omg that is just awful! I'm sorry your family has to go through this. Someone's home should be their sanctuary and I completely empathize with you. What has PD offered to do at this stage? If they told you at this late stage that the frame never passed their own independent inspections then you may have grounds to fight this at VCAT as they didn't follow HIA process and have impacted your family living conditions and well being by causing significant delays? Did you have independent inspections as well? To be honest though, their own independent inspections mean absolutely nothing. Our frame PD inspection passed even though the roof was undulating because the entire frame wasn't building properly. Roof was sagging and many many studs were not aligned etc and slab was very uneven. They had to not just fix the problems, some had to be fully replaced. So it's mind boggling that it passes their own inspection. How did you go getting all of the issues rectified? We are currently having the same issue with different colour render. Is your build complete? Our waldorf has taken 11months so far and there is still heaps to fix. I am so sorry to hear you too are going through this. This is all dejavu for me!!! PD did nothing to help or speed up any process no matter our housing arrangement after months of advising wed be in by feb. We too were left in your position. I really hope you get some action asap because at this point you just have no choice. In regards to the pd inspection its a joke. There is no report or photos but a peice of paper that says approved even if its not approved. Take no chances and do not even factor their inspector into ur equation Good luck Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8356Dec 08, 2017 4:50 am Congratulations! If I recall correctly it’s been an awful long journey for you. Glad the big day has finally arrived. Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8359Dec 08, 2017 7:46 am KCR4 Hi can I ask how long the build took? Our build is currently at 380 days 😯 Oh gosh. We are at 262 and I thought that was long. Have they started paying you compensation or will that come through at the end? Our contract deadline is Tuesday so I'm wondering how it works. Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8360Dec 08, 2017 9:43 am In our contract they have allowed 389 days so no compensation yet!! It is practically completed yet failed certificate of occupancy. Had 14 pages worth of things to fix after our last inspection. Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12182 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess. Trying to get some more information from our builder. 9 30173 |
