Seems to be up and running today so am updating as we speak Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 83May 14, 2011 6:17 pm I went to see the new Waldorf at the Kingsford estate today...the house is stunning. Also the house features the contemporary staircase option 2 which was perfect coz I'm always thinking of howwill look (looks really modern).... but I must say the curved staircase featured at Williams Landing gives the house more character... The featured wine room.... ummmm I don’t know if I like it. It’s a bit of a toss... imaging ur trying to impress ur guests with ur wine room and u take them thru the laundry to enter the tiny cramped store room... nahhhh not for me. The wine room should be connect with the theatre room, would look more impressive. I'll post picks of the house on my blog tomorrow. I wish I brought along my pro SLR... I had to uses my phones camera which doesn't have a very wide lens... Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 84May 14, 2011 6:36 pm It's funny. I didn't realize that the houses themselves are not built by PD Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 86May 14, 2011 7:54 pm The display homes are built by a separate group. They use architects and suppliers to create those stunning homes. Many of the finishing features you see are not offered. I figured they had interior designers and the like to fit out the interior but didn't know they used a different group to build the actual home. Don't they use the interior designer/decorators from coco republic? Tony i was going to go down today too! can't wait to see the stair pics as we too chose that option. Pics were taken from my phone and wish I had a wide lens with me. Thanks so much for posting the pics!! I feel MUCH better now I love ours better ... hehehe What have they done with the balcony off the parents retreat? Have they glassed it in and put curtains up? Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 92May 16, 2011 1:09 am snoofie What have they done with the balcony off the parents retreat? Have they glassed it in and put curtains up? Hi guys, We went over to see the new display today, certainly a very different Waldorf to the Williams Landing display. It was great to see the house as a mirror image as this is what we're having and I was a bit concerned but it seems to still flow just the same. Not a fan of the "wine cellar" a bit tacky if you ask me. We were also very happy to see to the staircase we've chosen in the flesh, although ours will be glass all the way up. snoofie, regarding the balcony off the master bedroom, they have the modwood slats with a sheer curtain over them. We felt that some of the rooms seemed smaller, particularly the study, living and upstairs rumpus? Do you think it's possible they've changed the dimensions of the 48 slightly, maybe to better fit average lots? Hope everyone's build is progressing (I know it is as I'm stalking all your blogs!!!). mimi Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 93May 16, 2011 4:42 am mimi23 snoofie What have they done with the balcony off the parents retreat? We have modwood slats to one end of our balcony. It may just be that the perspective of the rooms is different due to different colours and furniture being used. A bit like when we first see our slab go down - we think argh!! it's so small! Then the walls get painted and it's argh!! it's huge!!! Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 98May 16, 2011 9:55 am tstr1a The Waldorf did feel at little smaller. Also, it didn’t have the WOW factor like the display at Williams Landing. If you compare your pics to the PD pics of the Williams landing display it does seems smaller. Such as in the study, the gap between the two small windows (which are the same size windows in both homes) is less and in the master bedroom, it's a queen bed with narrow bedsides and not much wall left either side of the bed, compared to a king bed with wide bedsides that fit the length of the wall? Would love to live close enough to pop back with a tape measure. Re: Building a Waldorf by Porter Davis 99May 16, 2011 10:02 am mimi23 tstr1a The Waldorf did feel at little smaller. I even asked the sales rep if was modified in any way and she confirmed that there were no structural alternations.
