Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 8084Sep 07, 2015 6:04 pm Hi guys. We're about a week away from lock-up and about a month behind schedule. Haven't taken many photos lately as scaffolds are in the way. ChrisHeli: With regards to landscaping, we've gotten one and a half quotes so far. The "half quote" consisted of a walk-through and ballpark figure, which was 40k outside our budget. The other/proper quote is 30k over the budget. So it's all very expensive. The quotes included driveway, retaining walls (significant cost here), fencing, landscaping around the pool, concreting laundry side and around alfresco (pool on non-laundry side so no concreting here). We've done a bit of backyard landscaping a number of years ago but presently with a very full-on schedule (kids and work), it looks like most things will have to be left to the experts. Also, can anyone enlighten me about pendant lights and noggins? We're planning to have a largeish pendant light for the hallway foyer. Initially, we requested for strengthening of noggin for this purpose but were told by BC that SS/electrician can deal with this later . Now SS says the standard noggin can hold up to 30kg for pendant lights. If this is the case, the noggins would appear to accommodate most large pendant lights? Would this be correct? I usually found our back sliding door open on days trades where booked in. Door was never left open, but our SS was a local so I'm assuming he swung by and locked up most nights. Only towards the end have we have no access... Unless we lucked out and happened to be there the same time as a trade.
