Would love to see some photos Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7142Feb 24, 2015 8:56 am Hey Phil, I haven't forgotten about the blog! But unfortunately we've reached a dispute with our landscaper and now waiting for VCAT hearing next month. Don't plan to post anymore photos until it's all been settled! Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7143Feb 24, 2015 5:35 pm He all, just a quick update, I mentioned a while back in my blog that PD were going to talk to Powercor about the overhead powerlines. I was not sure what they meant, or what they could do about it. Well, it turns out that, what they were concerned about was the clearance (they missed it first time around) and what they can do about it, is to apply covers to the lines. Something similar to this, from what I can figure: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So, when it happens I'll be sure to post pics! Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7144Feb 24, 2015 6:57 pm When things get going there is no stopping PD! Got an sms from my SS today informing me frame is scheduled for completion Tuesday next week and to book in my independent inspector. That would put us 2.5 weeks for slab and frame. Went for a drive by and it's looking nice! It is amazing how grand the house looks with the higher ceilings. Our ground floor ceiling nearly aligns to our neighbours ceiling height (single story) and we have a drop from slab height. Quick teaser pick. I don't envy anyone that's just starting their journey, but honestly as exciting as it is in the beginning.... I don't think I will ever build again I just hope things improve in the future in the building industry as a whole. Few things that really just put me off during my journey. 1) Multitude of mistakes from support staff, obviously not listening even when it's written in ink 2) The need to fix all their misleading adverts 3) Not consistent with pricing 4) Short cuts taken just to get approval from council / developers 5) Bad at scheduling 6) Does not look like much screening taken when hiring tradies. Sub par work from what I've seen on forums. 7) Promises made on their website not honored. I rarely got updates from BC and always had to chase them up Delays at the customer's expense. Im sure a lot of you have had similar instances from various builders. But I'm out signing off forever Good Luck to everyone... lol... if I was to do it all over again...I'll go with a established house and renovate.....and it'll be on a different thread on Homeone Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7146Feb 24, 2015 7:28 pm knyght When things get going there is no stopping PD! We are doing a Sandringham 2 storie 45 sq PD so similar I guess to the Waldorf. That's with a $2k motorised blinds for three family room. Roman blinds in bedrooms. Blinds everywhere else. Drapes in theatre room. Plantation shutters in 4 internal spots. Just a quote we will probably do post handover through a mate of mine to save some $$. For the 48 with family/guest extension quote came in at $17.5. That was draped in master and theatre, plantation shutters in ensuite, no fittings in bathrooms, Romans in all other rooms.
