Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7023Feb 16, 2015 12:15 pm Hmmmm I've just had a look closer at my Electrical contract. For those who opted for 24 port data points, were you told by ARGUS rep that you need to allocate 2 out of the 24 ports for phones? Seems to me that the ARGUS rep is wrong in this case. Looking closer at the NBN NTU, phone line are completely separate from data lines So I could have gotten x24 data points + 2 phone lines. Instead of 22 data points + 2 phone lines.. Can anyone confirm this? Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7024Feb 16, 2015 12:28 pm Filthyfil Hmmmm I've just had a look closer at my Electrical contract. Can anyone confirm this? Just checked my argus plans, 24 points in the house, 2 of them marked with a "P" for phone, but they are cat6 aswell. At the actual house there is 6 runs of cat6 from the NTU locaiton in the garage going into the house. So maybe 4 of them are for Data runs for patching the NTD into the main switch and 2 of them go 2 the phone points in the house if i was to use Uni-v rather than voip??? Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7025Feb 16, 2015 12:50 pm I've opted for NBN phone instead of VOIP. From what I can see, the phone lines run directly into the NTU. Then there's a separate Ethernet line running from NTU to your router ? I may be wrong...will see next week when I get there....I went with iiNET 100/40 which is getting installed tomorrow. When I asked them what is their interpretation of a "Fully Framed" shower, they pretty much dismissed the question... Was told by PD regional manager that there's many different interpretation of what a semi frameless shower is and it varies from different vendors. In my experience, when people start playing word games, or lawer-balling it, as I call it, they already know that they are in the wrong. I'd press home on this one and use all of the display homes as reference. To add to the frae, my shower in my current home has a different variation yet again on the 'frameless' concept. my shower door is frameless top and bottom, but the vertical edge of the glass door that contacts the fixed shower frame has metal framing on it. Yep, if u get a plan that supports the old copper phones, then u need to the UNI-V port on the NTD which there should be 2 of, so the points that you nominated for phone should be run directly back to your NBN enclosure. Now for the actual Data, there is 4 UNI-D ports on the NTD so you can upto 4 nbn providers at once. now if your main patch panel and switch is in a different location to the NBN enclusure there should in theory be 4 Cat6 runs from the NBN enclosure to the main patch panel. As i said this is all theory at the moment, what they have actually done im still not sure of, eg. They have put 2 runs of coax where the nbn encolsure is at my place, not sure why, and it was never in any of the argus documents. edit: looking at the argus quote, the NBN pack for $1400~ is supposed to have 3xphone or data points. so i think your right, you should of been allowed 3 phone or data + 24 ports in the network pack Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7029Feb 16, 2015 7:00 pm Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7030Feb 16, 2015 7:05 pm I'm with Lumo for a number of factors. Found them to best rate at my address but know they aren't for friends in the east. I also like the fact I get Virgin points for every dollar spend My Waldorf 48 Blog: http://gisbornewillows.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7031Feb 16, 2015 9:05 pm Blog updated with progress... things sure do move when they get rolling! http://gisbornewillows.blogspot.com/2015/02/ive-been-frames.html My Waldorf 48 Blog: http://gisbornewillows.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Building a Waldorf or Marriot by Porter Davis 7032Feb 16, 2015 10:57 pm Today's the day... http://bendigowaldorf.blogspot.com/2015 ... -time.html Send me a PM if you have any last minute advice!
